THE MOON LANDING PIPES
THE LANDING ON THE MOON
After early Soviet successes in conquering space, the US
leadership looked for a project that would capture the world’s imagination and
overtake the Soviet Union as the leading space nation.
|
On July 16, 1969 the Apollo 11 mission started. A
Saturn V rocket took of from the Kennedy Space centre in Houston for
what would become an epic 8-day journey covering the 238,855 miles to the moon
and back. On board were Neil Armstrong, the commander of the mission,
Michael Collins, the pilot of the command and service module
‘Columbia’, and Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin, pilot of the lunar module ‘Eagle’.
On July 19 the ‘Eagle’ entered the moon’s orbit and touched
surface on July 20 at 4:17 pm EDT. The ‘Eagle’ had landed.
|
The whole world watched in amazement on their black & white
television sets as at 10:56pm Neil Armstrong descended the ladder of the ‘Eagle’
announcing “That’s one small step for (a) man, a giant leap for mankind” and
making the first steps of man on the surface of the moon.
On July 21 the ‘Eagle’ took off and re-docked with the
‘Columbia’ module and on July 24, the command module re-entered earth’s orbit
and landed safely in the Pacific Ocean.
Mankind’s greatest adventure had come to a successful
end. |

THE LIMITED EDITION MOON LANDING
PIPES
These two limited editions have been specifically created and
manufactured to celebrate the 40th anniversary of man’s first landing on the
moon.
The Moon Landing pipes are classic Shell Briar Billiards in
group 5 size. Both editions have been mounted with hand-chased precious metal
rim mounts to represent one of the many moon craters and are engraved with Neil
Armstrong’s famous words “That’s one small step for man, a giant leap for
mankind”.
Further, the pipes are equipped with 10mm wide precious metal
bands, their engraving indicating the starting date of the moon landing mission.
Each pipe is accompanied by a pipe tamper in the shape of the Saturn V rocket
hand-turned from white Erinoid material and equipped with a chromed metal or
18ct Gold foot.
The highly collectable Moon Landing pipes and tampers are

simulates of the moon surface and a relief-embossed scene depicts Neil
Armstrong’s descent from the ‘Eagle’.
Each set is accompanied by its numbered and hand-signed limited
