Manufacturer Description:
The basis of this Mixture is a selection of golden Virginia leaves from North Carolina, Brazil and Malawi, refined with Burley tobaccos from the USA and Mexico and a Black Cavendish based on tobaccos from Africa. A Mixture of Loose Cut and Cut Plugs.
Characterisation:
The version of the Club Mixture in the pouch is good to take away. If one chooses the larger unit, then one can store these in the tin for a longer time even if already started. The Mixture is predominantly medium brown, with light brown parts and a few dark brown sparks. However, the Cube Cut mentioned by the manufacturer is more likely to be a Ready Rubbed, which does not have to compromise the quality of the Mixture of otherwise longer cuts. The moisture content of the Club Mixture is so balanced that the Mixture can be plugged without further pre-drying.
Plugging:
Since the Club Mixture rises due to its different sized components under the flame, you should pay attention already during the plugging not to fill the pipe too tight or to the very edge. Even choosing a larger bowl may be a solution. Quite properly plugged the burning of Club Mixture is without problems.
Light up:
Although the tobacco is apparently not too moist, the tobacco fibers rise under the first flame so strong that they can swell over the edge of the pipe. You should pay attention to this when plugging and also use the tamper to bring back the unruly tobacco and smoothen the surface. After a second flame, the Club Mixture usually burns down without any further problems.
Smoking properties:
The Club Mixture seems to compare with English mixtures not only in the name, even if it contains no oriental tobaccos. The smoke is voluptuous and quite strong spicy, but it remains in strength in midfield and so is not burdening. Despite the Black Cavendish used, sweetness is barely to be tasted, but above all smoky tobacco flavors and roasted notes. Unusually, but harmoniously woven in seems a grassy touch, as one would expect from a tobacco containing Perique. The quiet burning is followed by an uncomplicated cleaning, since only fine medium gray ash and very little condensate remain.
Redolency:
The redolency of the Club Mixture is for tobacco and needs a society that tolerates smokers, if you do not want to enjoy the tobacco for your own.
Conclusion:
While the various components of the Club Mixture require attention when being plugged and lit, they also ensure a slow and steady burning. The Club Mixture is not only reminiscent of an English mixture thanks to its name. Although it contains no oriental tobaccos, but it is smoky and strong with pleasant roasted notes and grassy impacts reminiscent of a Mixture containing Perique, although this was not mixed. So you can consider the Club Mixture as a wonderful compromise, if you do not want to smoke Latakia or Perique for some reason, but also do not want to give up the strong-aromatic taste of appropriate Mixtures.
