Manufacturer Description:
Brown Cavendish gives natural sweetness, bright Oriental tobaccos and small Latakia leaves provide coolness and a nut-like taste. Strong, classic English.
Characterisation:
The Heritage My Mixture 999 has dark, medium and gray brown fibers, that are fine to medium wide and rather long. In between there are very isolated, random, finely grated Ready Rubbed crumbs and also firmer leaf components. The scent is tart and gives light smoke, baking chocolate and dried fruit. The corrugated cover paper when opening the tin could indicate a moisture surplus, but in fact you just have to pre-dry the Heritage My Mixture 999 for a short time.
Plugging:
Despite the occasionally firmer leaf constituents, the Heritage My Mixture 999 can be plugged as usual for loose Mixtures. So you can easily achieve a uniform burning, by starting loosely down and ending with gentle pressure.
Light up:
As the tobacco straightens slightly under the first flame, the tamper is gently used to provide a straightened surface and then, with the next flame, to obtain an uniform embers that glows until the end of the filling.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of the Heritage My Mixture 999 is lush, but not too heavy, even if the Latakia used lends the mixture less of the typical ethereal incense flavor than it adds extra resinous spice. The smoky base note mixes with grassy aromas and toasted notes in the background. Since the tobacco tends to gargle, you should keep the pipe cool by quiet smoking, then the burning is easy until the end of the filling and it remains only fine flaky, bright ash and some condensate to clean.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Heritage My Mixture 999 is tart and characterized by the oriental tobaccos, so it is less suitable for non-smoking society.
Conclusion:
The Heritage My Mixture 999 in different shades of brown and cuts, while deliciously scented, can be relatively easy be plugged and ignited. If you look to smoke cool, the tobacco, in addition to toasted notes, provides a pleasant Latakia spiciness reminiscent of resin, as well as grassy aromas - a balanced blend that does not look spectacular, but gives the Heritage My Mixture 999 its own taste profile. For lovers of English blends, the Heritage My Mixture 999 is thus suitable for almost any occasion and will convince with its uncomplicated style.
