Characterisation:
The Three Nuns - Green is a Curly-Cut, which means that a round tobacco rod has been cut in thin slices reminiscent of small coins. These discs have a dark and medium brown surface with lighter proportions and small yellow inclusions. The scent is reminiscent of dried fruit, especially on sour-sweet apricots and also something spicy, cloves-like is to be sniffed. The Curlies are firmly pressed into the tin, but can be easily removed individually. The tobacco could be slightly wetter, but it is elastic enough that the Curlies are quite stable in shape despite some sloping fibers.
Plugging:
As a Curly-Cut invites the Three Nuns - Green to experiments. Curlies can be ground to a Ready Rubbed, rolled into balls, added one after another into the pipe, or one bends the slices and fills the pipe, as with a Flake. Just be careful not to plug the pipe too tight or too loose, but with some experience you'll get the hang of it quickly.
Light up:
Compressed tobaccos usually need two flames - such as the Three Nuns - Green. When the first embers are extinguished, gently use the tamper to create a smooth surface that will well absorb the second flame and turn it into a long-lasting ember.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of the Three Nuns - Green is immediately recognizable as Virginia-Perique-blend. Smoky and medium-bodied with a tendency upwards, it is something for aficionados. The aromas are tart and spicy, and the sourish-grassy undertones in particular reveal Perique. Consciously keeping the pipe cool, roasted notes and even light hints of wood are also evident, as one would expect in a Havana. The burning is calm and even. It may be necessary once, halfway through the filling, to use the tamper to bring the embers closer to the tobacco. The little remaining dark gray ash, the few crumbs and the practically non-existent condensate make the cleaning very easy.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Three Nuns - Green is for tobacco and requires a smoker-tolerant society if you do not want to enjoy this tobacco among like-minded or alone.
Conclusion:
The Curlies of the Three Nuns - Green are a form of preparation for tobacco, which is rarely found. However, some practice in dealing with pressed tobaccos is required if you want to properly perform the different types of preparation that this tobacco invites for. Then, however, the Three Nuns - Green knows how to convince as a true and rather strong Virginia-Perique-mixture. The tart spice, enriched with grassy acidity, toasted notes and even woody tones, offers a complex smoking experience that will especially convince lovers of this direction and traditional tobaccos.
