Manufacturer Description:
In the Sancho Panza, the last tobacco in our series, sweet Ready Rubbed Virginias, nutty Burley and Latakia are combined, touched by a Prize Kentucky and Perique. The two-year storage helped it to develop its round and complex taste profile, which oscillated between urban earthiness and smoky, nutty notes. Full and voluminous, sweet and spicy, round and balanced, this is how the Sancho Panza presents itself. It is carried by a heavy basic sweetness, which is balanced and flanked by subtle acidic notes and nutty, partly earthy tones. The Latakia does the rest and gives it an ethereal, smoky touch. The Sancho Panza is always present without being strong. A mature blend that, with its bouquet, gives hours of enjoyment and quiet hours in the coming autumn and winter season. With a medium-strong northern Italian espresso, the pleasant warmth of its sweetness rises and leaves the sadness at the door.
Characterisation:
When the round tin of the Gran Reserva Limitada 2 Años Sancho Panza is opened and you open the paper rosette, you see a cover sheet that lists the tobaccos contained. It has absorbed excess moisture and is somewhat wavy, but the tobacco underneath is noticeably dry. It is a mixture of dark Ready Rubbeds, light, broad flaky fibers and a narrow, short, black-brown cut. A hint of acidity reveals the Perique in the sweetish, fruity scent, just as the hint of smoke reveals the Latakia. Since the tobacco is rather dry, you can give it in the pipe immediately after opening the tin.
Plugging:
Tamping the Gran Reserva Limitada 2 Años Sancho Panza is - with a little attention - quite uncomplicated. If you make sure to leave room for the included Ready Rubbed and not plug it too tightly, you will achieve a good filling.
Light up:
Since the Gran Reserva Limitada 2 Años Sancho Panza is not too wet, you can simply light it up. After the first flame, press lightly with the tamper and then create an even glow with the second flame.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of the Gran Reserva Limitada 2 Años Sancho Panza is pleasantly cool, which can be attributed to the Latakia. This is otherwise only noticeable through a slightly ethereal note. Otherwise, Kentucky spices are combined with hints of toast and naturally sweet Virginia. Even a faint floral bouquet can be discerned in the background. Although the Gran Reserva Limitada 2 Años Sancho Panza is not overly powerful, it appears to be a real English blend that should be enjoyed with caution, otherwise the predominantly Virginia content can lead to problems. But if you smoke the tobacco with pleasure and not too hastily, which should not be difficult in view of the interesting taste, a fine light ash and some condensate remain.
Redolency:
The room note of the Gran Reserva Limitada 2 Años Sancho Panza is natural, the Latakia contained is not outstanding, but you should still be considerate of non-smoking company.
Conclusion:
The Gran Reserva Limitada 2 Años Sancho Panza is a dark and light brown Ready Rubbed blend that is easy to prepare and, with a little attention, can be understood as English when smoked. With only slightly ethereal Latakia, spicy aromas dominate, which harmonize with natural sweetness, bread and floral hints. As the tobacco is not overpowering, it is well suited for smokers who are aware that Virginias should not be puffed away, but at the same time are looking for an English tobacco for any time of the day that does not bore.
