Manufacturer Description:
The Kratermischung No. 5 is a true classic. Sweet Virginia tobaccos are mixed and pressed with spicy Kentucky and nutty Burley. The result is a tasty Flake with subtle roasted and fruity appealing.
Characterisation:
Immediately when you open the unusual Flakes fall on, which are stacked wildly in the round tin. They are quite short (about 4cm long) and have an interesting color. The upper and lower thirds are composed of dark and black-brown tobaccos, while the middle layer is formed of medium and light brown tobaccos, in which golden yellow inclusions are mixed. The fragrance is less reminiscent of the plum flavor used, as the smoky-sweet smell of smoked ... Since the Flakes stick together and lying disarranged also in the tin, they are difficult to be removed individually. If one succeeds, with appropriate caution, to take individual slices, then one should let them dry for a while before the plugging.
Plugging:
Due to its texture as a Flake you can grate the Kratermischung No. 5 to a Ready Rubbed mixture or bring it bend and folded into the pipe. Due to the small size of the Flakes, this is quite easy, with larger pipes you can stuff them even formed to loose balls. Loose tobacco fibers last added to the filling, facilitate the lighting.
Light up:
For Flakes, such as the Kratermischung No. 5, it is always advisable to extinguish the first embers, then gently straighten the surface with the tamper. If you give fire again evenly, you will create a glow that lasts until the end of the filling.
Smoking properties:
Although the Kratermischung No. 5 may be smoked remarkably mild and soft, the taste is still spicy and smoky. An impression that pairs well with the distinct roasted bread note. In combination with the fruity-floral sweetness of the aroma, which in a positive way does not directly remind of plums, this results in a balanced taste that is never overburdened and yet not arbitrary. The aroma lasts until the last third of the filling, to give then more space to the spicier basic tobaccos. The consistency of the Flakes makes it necessary to use the tamper from time to time to push the embers closer to the tobacco. The cleaning is very simple, because when the pipe goes out, only dark gray ash, a few unburned tobacco crumbs and almost no condensate remain.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Kratermischung No. 5 is rather for tobacco and only slightly sweet marked by the aroma, so it depends on the type of society, whether they tolerated the Kratermischung No. 5.
Conclusion:
The Kratermischung No. 5 awakens interest already by its style. The dark and bright striped Flakes are nothing that you often see on the tobacco market. Just as little as a plum-flavored Flake, which is as unobtrusive as the Kratermischung No. 5. The tobacco combines in a very harmonious way mild spice, toasted bread and fruity accents. If you are looking for a tobacco that is by no means extraordinary and yet unusual, you should definitely give Kratermischung No. 5 a chance.
