Manufacturer Description:
A basic mixture from Red Mottled Virginia and Carolina Leaf, the small quantities Turkish Havana and medium-strong Kentucky are added to achieve a balanced effect. Everything is mixed, stored for a few days to be fully intrigued. Then this mixture is divided into 10 pound pieces and cold pressed several weeks. During this process naturally acquired harmonization and made a very slow burning a Flake. Color: light brown, Rich and spicy, medium strong.
Characterisation:
The Robert McConnell Scottish Flake is a red-brown flake with some bright and a few darker inclusions. It is cut in quite thin slices and its consistency is mellow, almost flaky. But the flakes are moist enough to be bent and folded with a little caution. The scent is sweet-tart and reminiscent of black bread. From the Orient probably used homeopathically ther is nothing to smell.
Plugging:
The Robert McConnell Scottish Flake can be easily rubbed to a mixture due to its crumbly consistency. Handled with some care the residual moisture content of the flakes allows to get them folded into the pipe. As always in flakes, it is advisable not to stuff too tightly, pressed tobacco rears when lighted. Crumbs from the tin or tobacco remains as a top layer facilitate the kindling.
Light up:
The lighting of Robert McConnell Scottish Flake is pretty simple. After the first flame the surface can be flattened slightly with the tamper and then the second flame ensures that the surface takes the embers evenly. Once this is done, the filling should easily burn until the end.
Smoking properties:
The Robert McConnell Scottish Flake should be easily flavored, but you can taste this next to nothing. What is, however, not a disadvantage, the used tobaccos are fragrant enough! The Kentucky brings a certain peppery, which is tempered by the pleasant Virginia used, so that the rich smoke is not biting on the tongue. The pinch Turkish Havana completes the enjoyment from with a hint of soft spice, but is not perceptible in the room. Like often in Kentucky, the medium strong tobacco in reality grows in strength towards the end, but not to knock you out. Even the cleaning effort is not to knock you out, yet remains only slightly gray ash and no condensate in the pipe.
Redolency:
The room note of Robert McConnell Scottish Flake is quite bearable, despite the used Oriental no "English horse stable", but real tobacco odor and the smell is quite long standing, which recommends this tobacco not really for sensitive companies.
Conclusion:
The Robert McConnell Scottish Flake Flake is red-brown with a few lighter and darker inclusions. A flavor is neither to smell nor to taste. If you want to plug it bent and folded, so you have to deal fairly careful with the crumbly flake, but the following smoking pleasure requires no further attention. It burns down steadily and convinces with natural flavors of the powerful Kentucky and a pleasant spicy-tart oriental touch. A flake, suitable for all lovers of stronger smokes but even beginners will appeal to the world of earthy Kentucky tobaccos or the oriental direction.
