Manufacturer Description:
A harmonic blend of Burley, Black Cavendish and Bright Virginia, slightly topped with a tender aroma of raisins. A mellow but fully aromatic tobacco.
Characterisation:
Ilsteds Own No. 77 is a dark brown mixture with a few brighter parts of tobacco, which will give off a discreet smell of raisins with a nuance of chocolate. The aroma is light to medium, so that the tobacco is remarkable too. The cut is a little bit wild with different widths and lengths.
Plugging:
The tobacco could be plugged very well, whereby in due to the cut it could be plugged even a little bit more compressed.
Light up:
Light up is easy too, because the tobacco doesn’t tend too much to straighten up. One flame, dampen down with the tamper and after another flame the tobacco glows equally.
Smoking properties:
Ilsteds Own No. 77 wants to be enjoined calmly! Smoked slowly and cool it develops an aroma that reminds to tobaccos which where treated with the juice of plums. While burning down the Virginia is remarkable too, whereby it’ll tent to an acidly biting on the tongue, if it’s smoked too hot. The tobacco glows down slowly and constant with less condensate and the aroma is rather constant till to the end. The strength should be classified as light. At the end a balance of dark grey ash remains.
Redolency:
The redolence is slightly aromatic. So the tobacco is unobtrusive and pleasing for the surrounding. Due to the Burley the smell is more nutty-sweet, the aroma of the raisins is rather discreet.
Conclusion:
Ilsteds Own No. 77 is a little bit wild, dark mixture of Burley, Black Cavendish and Bright Virginia with different cuts. The fresh tobacco smells slightly as raisins with a touch of chocolate. The handling is easy and burning down is uncomplicated. The light tobacco needs some attention regarding the temperature. As soon as it’ll get too hot it’ll bite definitely on the tongue! The aroma of raisin is nearly not to taste, the tobacco tastes more nutty-sweet. Smoked slowly and cool it’ll glow down good-natured with less condensate to a balance of dark grey ash. Illsteds Own No, 77 is recommended to both the careful beginner and the advanced smoker, whereby it may be a little bit boring.
