Characterisation:
The Musketeer is a mixture of short and wide cut black-brown tobacco fibers and small tobacco cubes, which are speckled medium brown and golden. Both were mixed in approximately equal proportions. The scent that flows from the round tin is intense fruity-sweet and reminiscent of dark berries, such as blackberries and blackcurrant, but is not quite to be classified. Since the tobacco touches slightly damp, it should be allowed to dry for half an hour before smoking.
Plugging:
Despite its very different sized components, the Musketeer can be plugged as usual for loose Mixtures. The best burning is achieved by starting loosely down and ending with gentle pressure. The Musketeer can handle even a firmer pressure without causing problems in the burning behavior.
Light up:
Probably due to the moisture content and the very different requirements the parts of the Mixture need in terms of their sizes, it may take three or even four flames until the tobacco glows evenly. If you gently take the tamper in between, you will be able to create a very uniform glow. A little practice in handling this tobacco will soon makes things easier.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of Musketeer is remarkably mild, very cool and pleasantly creamy. Nevertheless, a distinct spice is to taste, which prevents the tobacco from being arbitrary. If you could almost certainly expect the use of an aroma in the cold scent, the fruity-sweet notes are completely absent in the smoke and there is doubt whether (maybe except for a light casing) an aroma was ever used. The Musketeer delivers but so beautiful, intense toasted bread notes and hints of nuts, that you miss no flavor. Probably due to the generous amount of Cube Cuts the burning is very calm, slow and even. The remaining medium gray ash and the very few condensate make cleaning very easy.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Musketeer is for pure tobacco, but slightly sweet, so that the tobacco could be tolerated in tolerant society.
Conclusion:
By mixing the dark Loose Cut with the medium brown Cubes, the Musketeer requires some attention and practice when lit. But then the tobacco convinces with an unusually uncomplicated and quiet burning. This then provides uncomplicated too, but therefore still not boring taste impressions. Unusual is especially the creamy and cool smoke, which nevertheless does not come without spice, which is accompanied by toasted notes and nuttyness and so does not even give the impression that the manufacturer would have to use a flavor to help out the tobacco. The Musketeer invites you to smoke a relaxed pipe whenever you feel like, and its creamy spiciness may even convince aroma lovers.
