Arturo Fuente
the legendary Dominican Puro
The Fuente Fuente OpusX line ranks among the most coveted rarities in the cigar world, appearing in Europe only once a year in extremely limited quantities. Each cigar is crafted entirely from 100% Dominican tobaccos grown on the family’s own estate, the famous »Chateau de la Fuente«. OpusX was the first ever Dominican Puro and remains the only line rolled exclusively from Dominican leaf.
From the beginning, OpusX achieved global renown, repeatedly crowned Cigar of the Year. »Its launch sparked a market revolution, almost like a nuclear explosion. We practically set the trend of producing strong, spicy, complex full-bodied cigars,« recalls Carlos Fuente Jr.
Every cigar stands out with flawless rolling, perfect draw, excellent burn, and solid ash. Known for its rich, oily texture and complex aromatic character, OpusX is crafted for seasoned connoisseurs.
The story behind the name
Working side by side as father and son, the Fuentes quickly agreed to double their surname on their special creation: Fuente Fuente. The word »Opus«, from Latin meaning “work of art,” was chosen to symbolize the cigar’s superior quality. The »X« originates from »Project X«, the name under which their groundbreaking Dominican tobacco planting began.
Fuente Fuente OpusX Oscuro Oro
The golden sunlight that bathes the breathtaking Chateau de la Fuente inspired the name of these ultra-rare cigars.
Housed in striking yellow boxes, the Fuente Fuente OpusX Oscuro Oro showcases wrappers grown on the Fuente family’s estate. These specially selected leaves undergo an extended fermentation and aging process, leading to their dark hue and a bold yet balanced flavor profile.
The »Oscuro Oro« is not a cigar for beginners, nor a morning smoke. Full-bodied, robust, and layered with complexity, it is even rarer than the classic OpusX—boxes reaching Germany barely number in double digits.
Expect notes of cinnamon, nut, cedar, and a faint earthiness, lifted by subtle peppery hints. Connoisseurs lucky enough to encounter this bright yellow gem should seize the opportunity.
