Alfred Dunhill 1872 - 1959

Alfred Dunhill was born on 30 September 1872 in northern London.In 1893 he took over his father's tarpaulin and horse accessory business and established Dunhill's Motorities to cater for the emerging motorists' needs.In 1904 he patented the now famous "windshield" Motorities pipe, one of his many and often visionary inventions and patents.
He established in 1907 the Duke Street tobacconist store, followed soon by luxuries boutiques in Paris and New York.
When Alfred Dunhill passed away on 2nd January 1959 Alfred Dunhill Limited firmly established as a global purveyor of the finest smoking accessories and luxury goods available.
