Manufacturer Description:
Red Virginia as Ready Rubbed-Flake, Malawi Burley Cube Cut, Perique, Havana leaves and a touch of Brasil tobaccos. This impressive ingredient list defines the Nyala. The Nyala is a medium-strong Blend with neat power in taste. The subtle chocolate notes of Burley, the sweetness of Virginia, as well as the fruitiness of Perique are paired with the finest Havana leaves and spicy Brazil tobacco. Optimally balanced, each seasoning tobacco receives its required space without dominating. A very unusual tobacco that comes along spicy, perhaps even a hint of Caribbean flavors, but the taste never has cigar-like flavours in the foreground.
A tasty power package in medium strength that does not cause any boredom. Tobacco mixing-art at it's best.
Characterisation:
In the company-specific round tin with pressure lid and additional plastic lid, the tobacco is in good hands for a long time also. The loose tobacco fibers of the Collaboration Nyala are frizzy, broad and long cut and mostly light and medium brown, while the Ready Rubbed bits are rather dark brown. The scent reveals with its chocolaty note especially the contained Burley, as well as the "cigar tobaccos", which contribute an aroma of cedar wood. The Nyala Collaboration can be plugged without prolonged pre-drying due to its good moisture content.
Plugging:
Since the Nyala Collaboration also contains portions of pressed tobacco, you should not plug the tobacco too tight, because the Ready Rubbed rises under the flame a bit. Also, you should therefore not make the pipe too full or choose a larger pipe-model, if you like this with spicy tobaccos.
Light up:
Since the Collaboration Nyala rises under the first flame, as mentioned above, it may be necessary to light a second or third time after gently smoothing the surface with the tamper. However, the Collaboration Makhuwa no longer demands more from the smoker.
Smoking properties:
In fact, the Collaboration Nyala fulfills the promise of the manufacturer. Without being cigar-like, the tobacco provides all the interesting flavors cigar-tobacco has to offer. To a strong-spicy basic note are joined by intense roasted and bread notes, rounded off by a soft natural sweetness. The most remembering for cigars are the earthy and leathery aromas, as they are attributed to the spicy Brasil and Havana tobaccos. Unlike with so many cigars the burning is completely uncomplicated and also the fine, bright ash and the hardly existing condensate make the cleaning a brief matter.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Collaboration Nyala is for tobacco and spicy - here the tobacco actually reminds of cigars, so that the environment should be accordingly tolerant.
Conclusion:
The Collaboration Nyala is a blend of lighter tobacco fibers and darker Ready Rubbed. If you pay attention to this during preparation, you will receive a filling that is very easy to smoke but tastes complex. Strong spiciness, roasted notes and bread aromas, natural sweetness too, may still be familiar from pipe tobaccos, but the earthy flavors reminiscent of leather and wood are only present in few Mixtures - especially in those containing (such as the Collaboration Nyala) Brasil and Havana tobaccos. These make the course of the smokeing intense and unusual at the same time. Anyone who likes a cigar from time to time or who is interested in this taste spectrum, but would be horrified to find cigar-like flavors in his pipe, does not do anything wrong with the Collaboration Nyala!
