Manufacturer Description:
The Khoisaan is a black, full-spiced Latakiablend. Smoky Cypriot Latakia is blended with abundant Louisiana Perique and vigorous firecured Virginia from Tanzania. The result is a full-bodied rich blend with subtle notes of wood and fruits. The Khoisaan is a complex Mixture for the experienced smoker.
Characterisation:
The Collaboration Khoisaan comes in the company-typical pressure lid tin, in which the medium-fine cut tobacco can also be well stored for extended periods of time. The smoky-sweet scent is reminiscent of maple syrup, although the tobacco is expressly not flavored. The color is blackbrown with dark brown and some lighter parts. Since the tobacco looks a bit damp, it can be pre-dried before being plugged.
Plugging:
The Collaboration Khoisaan rises a bit and should not be plugged too tight. However, one should not overestimate this - the usual rule to start loosely down and get firmer on top, also applies to this tobacco, just not with excessive pressure.
Light up:
As the Collaboration Khoisaan rises a little under the flame, once the first flame has extinguished, gently squeeze the surface once more and give fire again evenly. So it achieves an uncomplicated burning.
Smoking properties:
Other than announced by the manufacturer, the Collaboration Khoisaan is not too demanding. The aromas are by no means overwhelming - on the contrary, the tobacco provides a mild spiciness, which is very pleasant to notice. Ostensibly the Collaboration Khoisaan seems like a typical Virginia-Perique Mixture, because you can taste, in addition to the gentle tobacco flavor, especially the usual toasted bread and hay. Only with attentive smoking the Latakia falls on, which holds elegantly in the background and enriches the other two tobaccos with its ethereal-light aroma. The Collaboration Khoisaan smokes cool and uncomplicated, so that the remaining light and quite fine ashes, the few condensate and the resulting hardly worth mentioning cleaning effort not surprises.
Redolency:
The high content of Latakia may not show too clearly in the taste, but in the room it is clearly audible, so that one should refrain from enjoying the Collaboration Khoisaan in non-smoking society.
Conclusion:
One should not be deterred by the manufacturer's information. The Collaboration Khoisaan is not as rich as stated by the manufacturer. Nevertheless, the dark blend is pleasantly spicy and delivers the typical flavors of a Virginia-Perique Mixture paired with a slight note of Latakia, which gives the smoke lightness. The striking coolness is attributed to the Oriental tobacco. Overall, its the picture of an tobacco uncomplicated to smoke, which is also suitable for beginners, but it whould actually be a pity to smoke it only incidentally.
