Manufacturer Description:
Finest brown Virginia tobacco of the highest quality and medium strength, first pressed and then traditionally sliced. Slightly flavored variety.
Characterisation:
The Heritage Flake is square in paper wrapped in a round tin. If you open the paper, a pile of Flakes comes out, which individual discs are quite wide. The Flakes are uniformly marbled light and medium brown and with dark and golden sprinklings traversed. The scent is intense with dried figs, raisins and multivitamin juice. Although the Flakes are a bit crumbly, but still so elastic that they can be easily removed individually. Since Flakes often contain residual moisture as a result of the pressing, the Heritage Flake can be pre-dried for a short time.
Plugging:
Like other Flakes, the Heritage Flake, if you want to make it easy, can be crumbled to a Ready Rubbed blend to your taste. Due to the crumbly and elastic consistency, it is also very easy to bring the Flake in one piece bend and folded into the pipe. But the Heritage Flake is also great for giving it into the pipe shaped into loose balls. However plugged, loose tobacco crumbs as a conclusion facilitate the kindling.
Light up:
With careful preparation, a single match will suffice to evenly ignite the Heritage Flake. Nevertheless, if you use the tamper once for smoothing and maybe give it a second flame, then an uniform burning is almost guaranteed.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of the Heritage Flake is mild spicy and characterized by the slightly sweet aroma, this is not described by the manufacturer and is also not easy to define. It has a juicy effect and evokes associations with yellow fruits as well as plums. In addition, there are nutty flavors and toasted notes of the Virginia used as basic tobacco. The Virginia becomes stronger in the further course of the smoke, with increasing spiciness, which can sometimes be slightly tingling and peppery, as it is known of some pure Virginias. Nevertheless, the Heritage Flake is very uncomplicated and can be smoked without the Virginia-typical "ticks". Medium gray ash and hardly any condensate make the final cleaning as uncomplicated as possible.
Redolency:
The scent of the Heritage Flake is by the used flavor, although for tobacco, but slightly sweet, so it may be suitable for tolerant societies.
Conclusion:
The medium and light brown marbled, fruity-sweet scented Heritage Flake is over all an uncomplicated Flake. Both the preparations as well as the smoking do not cause any problems. The juicy fruit aroma is especially good to taste in the first half, later the mild spice is more intense and more reminiscent of a vigorous Virginia, which the Heritage Flake indeed is based on. Also for the beginner the Heritage Flake offers something of both: an uncomplicated Virginia and a not too intrusive aroma.
