When Poul Nielsen founded his company in 1942, he named it "Kyringe" for the location of the factory. After World War Two, he adopted the name Stanwell for his pipes and eventually took the name for himself in order to protect the trademark. Insisting on using only the finest Mediterranean briar for his pipes, Poul Stanwell knew the best materials are only part of the successful equation. The men and women commissioned by Stanwell to create new designs read like a list of "Who´s Who" of the Danish pipe world. This Limited Edition Collector´s Set includes six pipes designed by some of the most legendary Danish pipe designers.
Poul Stanwell himself designed #32, the first Stanwell pipe ever made. The man known as the "Dean" of Danish carvers, Sixten Ivarsson, created two of these pipes, #6 and #70. After apprenticing with Sixten, Jess Chonowitsch quickly became known as a true artist with a unique ability to bring out the best in the wood grain. Jess Chonowitsch designed pipe #169. The most famous female Danish pipe carver, Anne Julie, known for her imaginative artistic sense, designed shape #35. The last pipe of the collection, #190, was designed by the "new generation" of pipe makers, Tom Eltang. Only 200 of these Limited Edition collections are being made available for you.
