Manufacturer Description:
Oriental tobaccos mixed with light and red Virginia tobaccos, lightly pressed and then roasted. A classic English Mixture, with some Latakia refined, medium cut.
Characterisation:
The Heritage Boutique Blend is uniformly dark, medium and light brown and consists of broad and short cut fibers and individual flakes. In between there are also some larger leaf-pieces. The scent is dark, reminiscent of moss, but is sweetish, slightly alcoholic and smoky. As with the wavy and spotty paper topping that appears when you open the tin, the tobacco is sticky and should be well pre-dried before plugging.
Plugging:
When plugging by the usual method (loosely at the bottom and fixed above), one should note that the Heritage Boutique Blend also contains firmer leaf components. Nevertheless, the tobacco tolerates being plugged a little tighter because it improves the puffing.
Light up:
After the first flame, smooth the surface gently with the tamper and then give fire again evenly. This ensures a quiet burning ember bed.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of the Heritage Boutique Blend is mild spicy and not very strong. Above all, it provides the typical for Latakia, here, however moderate smokiness and a slightly ethereal incense note. In addition, there are subtle roasted notes and hints of wood. The burning is so calm and cool that one can smoke the tobacco by the way and is almost surprised when the pipe goes out and only slightly fine fine ashes and hardly any condensate remain.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Heritage Boutique Blend is dominated by Oriental tobaccos, which are rarely tolerated by non-smoking societies.
Conclusion:
The somewhat inconsistent cut of the Heritage Boutique Blend requires a bit of care when plugging, but otherwise the tobacco, colored in all shades of brown, is quite easy to smoke. As the name suggests - probably not coincidentally - the tobacco is also suitable for the "early birds" in the morning due to its gentle aroma and moderate strength. In fact, the mild smokiness and the – typical for Latakia - cool incense note can be enjoyed at any time of the day. So the Heritage Boutique Blend recommends itself also for smokers who have no experience with English mixtures, since the tobacco offers all the benefits of such, without being too demanding.
