Manufacturer Description:
Finest Latakia, Oriental tobaccos and refined Virginia are toasted. Rich and tasty.
Characterisation:
In the round tin, the Heritage Notting Hill is a blend of dark and medium brown tobacco fibers rather broad cut and interspersed with lighter proportions. The sweetish-smoky scent is typically for a Latakia-mixture and reminiscent of autumn leaves. Although the tobacco was firmly pressed into the tin, the Heritage Notting Hill is not too damp and can be plugged immediately.
Plugging:
Since the Heritage Notting Hill is a loose Mixture, you can easily fill it soft into the pipe at the bottom and become firmer towards the top. More effort is not required to ensure a very quiet burning.
Light up:
With a little practice, a single flame is enough to evenly ignite the surface of the Heritage Notting Hill. If you now gently use the tamper to smoothen, there are no more obstacles for an uncomplicated burning.
Smoking properties:
The Heritage Notting Hill is remarkably cool and mild, yet smoky as you would expect from an English mixture. The tobacco shows well-balanced by covering the full spectrum between Latakia spiciness and ethereal incense notes. Variety is also offered by fine roasted notes and hints of wood. The tobacco smokes uncomplicatedly without being too strong or too weak, which also shows the balance of the Mixture. Only medium gray ash and some condensate remain.
Redolency:
Due to the content of oriental tobaccos, the redolence of the Heritage Notting Hill is markedly harsh and therefore not suitable for non-smoking societies.
Conclusion:
The predominantly medium- and dark-brown mixed, broader tobacco fibers of the Heritage Notting Hill reveal their English character even in the smoky autumn fragrance. This uncomplicated tobacco smokes just as easily in the preparation, but surprises with a well-balanced taste profile, which allows both the spicy, as well as the ethereal properties of Latakia and Oriental to come into play. Rounded off by roasted and woody notes, the Heritage Notting Hill makes smoking so interesting that the tobacco is too good for smoking by the way. As a multi-layered English, the Heritage Notting Hill is sure to appeal to newbies in this direction, as well as beginners by its straightforward nature.
