Manufacturer Description:
A high proportion of mature, dark as well as yellow Virginia, combined with Latakia and Oriental leaf. Wonderful balance, gentle in the taste, with a floral and subtle smoky note.
Characterisation:
The Heritage Oriental Square is a black and medium brown blend with brighter proportions. The fibers are fine and short cut, in between there are also finely cut Ready Rubbed pieces, but also firmer leaf-ribs. The scent is sweetish, slightly smoky and reminiscent of baking cocoa. For a better smoking result you should let the Heritage Oriental Square pre-dry shortly.
Plugging:
The Heritage Oriental Square contains some firmer leaf components, which should be considered when stuffing, as this could cause problems in the burning. If the leaf-ribs are crushed or rubbed beforehand, the tobacco can be plugged loosely down at the bottom as usual and firmer towards the top.
Light up:
Underneath the flame, the Heritage Oriental Square raises itself vigorously, so it takes several tries to create a steady glow after smoothing with the tamper and brushing repeatedly the straightened surface with the flame. Care is worthwhile here, however, because then the following burning is completely without problems.
Smoking properties:
The Heritage Oriental Square is intensely smoky and intense, but not strong. The power expresses itself more on the spicy flavors that tickle the tongue with hints of pepper. The Latakia is more of the spicy variety and provides only in the background an incense note, while the Oriental provides with resinous and grassy hints for an unusual flavor play. Since the burning is very calm and uncomplicated, it pleases all the more that, when the pipe goes out, apart from fine, bright ashes almost no condensate is to be cleaned.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Heritage Oriental Square is dominated by the oriental tobaccos heavy and harsh, so you should prefer not to enjoy this tobacco in the company of non-smokers.
Conclusion:
The slightly inconsistent cut of the black- and medium-brown Heritage Oriental Square demands attention when plugging and igniting. However, the following burning is all the more relaxed if you like intensive English mixes ... Although the tobacco is not overly strong, it literally has pepper and combines unusually resinous and grassy notes with the rather inconspicuous incense aroma of Latakia. As a result, the Heritage Oriental Square is a change from the typically English mixtures, but for that very reason knows how to convince one or the other who is looking for something special.
