The Swan: Kelvin & Toto's beautiful pipe shape, which adorns the tin, couldn't be more fitting. Because our tobacco is just as gentle, graceful and harmonious as this shape. Virginias from Africa as well as North and South America, Cypriot Latakia, English Black Cavendish and a trace of Perique provide an exciting and balanced English mixture, the character of which is not dominated by the Latakia but pleasantly formed. We also treated this mixture with our ultra-fine topping of the indescribable type, which fits this blend extremely well and makes it absolutely unique. So if you've always been looking for a spicy, pleasantly sweet blend with a smoky note, you'll find it with The Swan.
Characterisation:
The Swan is an even Mixture of light and medium-brown tobaccos, which also contains a generous proportion of black-brown fibers. The different tobaccos are not too long, but rather broad cut. If you sniff the freshly opened tin, you will first notice the typical Virginia aromas of dried fruit and sweet hay, the Latakia is represented with a clear smoke note, while the Perique is only suspected as a slightly sour component. The tobacco feels so well conditioned the first time you open it, that you must not pre-dry it, but immediately give it in the pipe.
Plugging:
The rather wide cut hardly complicates the plugging of The Swan. If you start loosely at the bottom of the pipe and become firmer upwards with gentle pressure, nothing stops in the leisurely burning.
Light up:
The Swan's not too high moisture content means that the tobacco can be ignited very easily. If, after the first flame, you use the tamper again to smooth the surface and give fire again, you create an even bed of embers and you can sit back relaxing.
Smoking properties:
The Swan reveals itself as an absolutely uncomplicated representative of the English direction. The Latakia provides pleasantly spicy aromas and subtle ethereal incense notes in the background, while the Perique contributes something peppery. These rather spicy components are rounded off and softened by the unobtrusive topping. Neither the Latakia nor the topping are so intense that they could be stressful. On the contrary, the mild Latakia ensures a calm and cool burning. Without re-firing, The Swan smokes down comfortably and only leaves fine light ash and hardly any condensate in the pipe, so that cleaning is also very easy.
Redolency:
The smoke from The Swan, despite using Latakia, is not as overwhelming as some other English mixtures, but you should be aware that not every society tolerates this.
Conclusion:
The Swan, which is composed evenly of dark and light tobaccos, reveals even in the cold scent that it is a mild Latakia mixture and not a clearly flavored tobacco. In addition to mild Latakia flavoring and typical for Perique a fine pepper note, the topping rounds off. Thus creates a very mild, little stressful and thoroughly uncomplicated smoke pattern. Due to these properties, the Swan is particularly recommended for beginners. But also those who want to try an English mixture and are still inhibited by the supposedly powerful oriental tobaccos should definitely be recommend The Swan.
