Manufacturer Description:
The "Khartoum" is based on ready rubbed Virginias, which were mixed with plenty of Cypriot Latakia, as well as on Kentucky, Perique, Black Cavendish and of course Havana tobaccos. The result is soft and complex at the same time and opens up an appealing contrast. The well-chosen amount of cigar leaves not only gives the blend an incredible depth and intensity, but also a very unique flavor character. The smoky and sweet notes of the Latakia harmonize perfectly with the spiciness of the Havana tobaccos. It's almost as if they were made especially for each other. The "Khartoum" is a full-bodied blend with a strong flavor that is very rare to find. So you have to get involved with the tobacco, smoke it slowly to be able to enjoy all the nuances. Then the "Khartoum" unfolds its very own and captivating magic.

Characterisation:
The Khartoum blends short, medium-wide, brown and black-brown fibers with a smaller proportion of lighter tobaccos. A Ready Rubbed marbled in different shades of brown and speckled with gold completes the picture. The pieces are sometimes very large. The scent is sweet-spicy and slightly alcoholic, with a faint reminiscence of autumn fires. The moisture content is just right to get the Khartoum straight into the pipe.

Plugging:
The different components of the mixture advise very careful plugging. The Ready Rubbed pieces, some of which are very large, should be crushed to a normal size. The Khartoum is then plugged with little pressure, otherwise a bad draw can occur.

Light up:
Assuming careful plugging, the Khartoum presents no problems when lighting. One might almost think that one flame is enough, but it is better to smooth out the first embers with a tamper. The second flame then creates a reliable burning.

Smoking  properties:
The Khartoum shows the intense roasted notes of powerful Virginias and Kentucky. The contained Havana provides a component that is actually reminiscent of some cigars in its almost greasy spiciness. If this aroma is already unusual for a pipe tobacco, notes of leather and smooth peat are added, which are reminiscent of both excellent Scotch and Cuban tobaccos. The Latakia helps keep the smoke nice and cool. It does not evoke the more frequent association with incense, but shows the burning autumn leaves that can already be perceived in the cold scent. In order to avoid gargling, one should not puff too greedily on the pipe, which is not recommended anyway due to the strong aroma. Well plugged, the Khartoum smokes in an uncomplicated and, above all, varied way, until at the end only some flaky, light-colored ash remains to be cleaned.

Redolency:
Since the Khartoum is a Latakia blend, the environment should be choosen well if one wants to smoke the tobacco in company. The Havana salary does the rest... However, this also ensures that the Khartoum can be smoked well in the fresh air without having to fear a loss of taste.

Conclusion:
The Khartoum is a predominantly dark blend of loose tobacco and a coarsely ground Ready Rubbed. Plugged with experience, the tobacco offers an unusual smoking experience. Strong Virginia and Kentucky combines with full-bodied Havana aromas, which ensure an intense spicy taste between toast, cigar and whiskey. Even the Latakia does not show its ethereal side, but shows itself smoky. Lovers of English blends looking for something new are sure to be surprised positively by the Khartoum. It is over all a special tobacco that should be smoked in a relaxed manner.
