Manufacturer Description:
The Original Blend of 1848. A Broken Flake of mid brown colouring cut from the Cake which has been under pressure for several weeks. The Red Sun cured and Carolina Leaf combine flavours to produce a superb slow burning and mature blend of very great popularity. No Latakia.
Characterisation:
The Scottish Cake is a dark brown, ready rubbed flake with a distinctive smell of sweetly tobacco and fresh hay. The flake-pieces are rubbed rather fine, so that no more preparation is necessary. The fresh tobacco is slightly dampish and should be dried before plugging. Therefore, as example, the needed portion could be left at the air for 10 to 30 minutes.
Plugging:
This tobacco could be plugged easily as a mixture, but should plugged loosely, because the flake-pieces will expand while burning down.
Light up:
To light up the Scottish Cake two or three flames would last to get a constant glow. The tobacco swells a little bit, but must not be lighted up again after dampened down with the tamper.
Smoking properties:
Due to the cut the Scottish Cake glows down rather slowly. It needs a little bit attention, because if smoked too hot it tends to bite on the tongue. Smoked cool it evolves a pleasing, light sweetly taste with nuttily nuances. Burning down the tobacco produces some more condensate as usual, but could be smoked without any problems anyway. It glows down to a balance of medium to dark grey ash.
Redolency:
In the redolence the Scottish Cake also evolves a light spicy-sweet smell with nuttily nuances. Due the sweetly character the redolence is discreet and pleasing for the surrounding.
Conclusion:
The Scottish Cake is a pleasing, unobtrusive tobacco, which could be smoked by any occasion. By that some attention is recommended, because smoked too hot, it’ll tend to bite on the tongue. The rather dampish tobacco tends to produce some condensate, what could be regulated with smoking it slowly. Both taste and redolence are sweetly with nuttily and spicy nuances. The tobacco’s redolence is pleasing and unobtrusive and therefore suited for nearly any society. For the proficient smoker the Scottish Cake is a recommendation as an “all-days” tobacco, but it’s also suited for beginners, if they attend to smoke slowly and cool.
