Manufacturer Description:
This mixture consists of several Virginia tobaccos, a high proportion of Black Cavendish, Latakia and a pinch of Orient. A nuanced tobacco which is full-bodied but not strong.
Characterisation:
The 3 Noggins comes in the company's typical high tin with a pull-lid and additional plastic lid. Since it is not certain whether the latter really closes well, you should decant the tobacco in an airtight container to prevent drying. Freshly opened the tobacco is very well conditioned. The Loose Cut is fine and short cut with larger proportions and shows a medium and dark brown, almost black color. The scent is sweet, almost alcoholic with a slight smell of smoke, which reveals the obtained Oriental tobaccos.
Plugging:
Who can stuff a Loose Cut down loose and fixed up, gets no problems with the 3 Noggins.
Light up:
Like the plugging the lighting of 3 Noggins is easy. A single flame and a gentle smoothing with the tamper and the tobacco makes no further effort.
Smoking properties:
The 3 Noggins offers a surprisingly velvety and creamy smoke for an English tobacco. Indeed, the tobacco affects almost light, while the sweet Virginia and gentle Black Cavendish are present in the foreground. From the second half of filling this mild taste recedes and gives way to a stronger taste. This carries the strong and spicy flavors of the Oriental. The Latakia now reveals itself also with clearer incense note and smoky aromas. At this time, the tobacco is no longer to name light, it tends then - contrary to the manufacturer's specification - rather towards strong. But the tobacco shows no inclination to gargling and there is no risk of tonguebite. As usual for an English tobacco, the remaining ash is light gray and relatively fine. There is almost no condensate to remove.
Redolency:
The redolency of 3 Noggins is tobacco genuine and the content of oriental tobaccos is clearly perceptible, so this tobacco lends itself especially for "English" companies and the fresh air.
Conclusion:
The 3 Noggins is a Loose Cut, cut fine and short, but also with larger proportions. The predominantly dark brown color reveals the content of dark tobaccos, such as Cavendish and the Orientals. In the fragrance can this be rediscovered, because from the fresh opened tin emanates both sweet and smoky flavors. Flavors, such as are also retrieve in the smoke; wherein the tobacco starts gently and increases in the further course of smoking without thereby however being overwhelming. This comparatively harmless for an English tobacco taste spectrum, making the 3 Noggins together with the very simple preparations and its inconspicuous smoking behavior at a good beginners tobacco for those who want to try an English tobacco. But fans of this direction will like this gentle but not insubstantial “Englishman” too.
