Manufacturer Description:
A very dark, savoury mixture with a high amount of Virginia and Black Cavendish. A dash of Cypriote Latakia was added. This tobacco is endued with a matured condiment, which isn’t dominating too much. The high amount of Black Cavendish assures a good-natured burning behavior.
Characterisation:
The view of the tobacco shows for Rattray typical rather fine cut, somewhat dark mixture. The smell is spicy and sweetly, whereas Latakia could only be recognized slightly. The mixture has an optimal humidity and just looking at the tobacco excites an anticipation to the consumption of this mixture.
Plugging:
Jocks Mixture is easy to plug with the smokers favourite method for medium cut mixtures. At the bottom it should be plugged a little bit loosely to avoid that the tobacco blocks the smoke channel of the bowl.
Light up:
This tobacco could be light up easy with one or two flames nearly without any tend to swell.
Smoking properties:
The taste is rather sweet with spicy nuances from Latakia – it can be truly only a dash, which nevertheless comes into its own. In combination with Virginia and Black Cavendish a smooth taste with medium strength of tobacco evolves. With a little bit attention the tobacco glows cool and with less condensate to a mixture of bright and dark ash.
Redolency:
The redolence is rather sweetish too. At this the nuances of Black Cavendish and Latakia complete the smell to a pleasing, savoury condiment. Therefore this tobacco recommend itself for snugly societies where the enjoyment of spicy mixtures would be accepted.
Conclusion:
Another interesting mixture from Charles Rattray with the typical rather fine cut and a view of dark tobacco. Virginia, Black Cavendish and a dash of Latakia combine to a pleasing, sweetish-spicy taste, which could be recognized in the redolence too. Jocks Mixture demands a little bit attention and glows good-natured, cool and with less condensate. By the good smoking properties and easy handling it recommends itself as an “all-days-tobacco” for enthusiasts of English mixtures with a small amount of Latakia. Beginner and changer are well advised with this tobacco too.
