Manufacturer Description:
A savory blend of Virginia and Burley leaf with velvet Black Cavendish. Aged in whisky barrels for precisely one month, this mixture smokes smooth and heralds a marvelous aroma tropical fruit and hickory nuts.
Characterisation:
The mixture is medium fine and rather colourful. The colour is from yellow to dark brown, whereby the cut is mostly medium width and short. While opening the tin an intensive, fruity aroma with a nuance of perfume pour out, which crowds any smell of tobacco and nut completely. The tobacco feels pleasing mellow and not too humid.
Plugging:
Due to the cut the Rainy Day could be plugged easy in pipes of any size. It shouldn’t be filled too compact or too high.
Light up:
The Rainy Day could be light up very well with one or two flames. It tends a little bit to straighten up, so it may be necessary to dampen down with the tamper and light up once.
Smoking properties:
While light up the fruity aroma of this tobacco is remarkable immediately. Only after a few draws some slightly nuances of nutty Burley and the hickory aroma could be recognized, but which will stay over the complete filling in the background. The tobacco glows good-natured, so that it’ll take no exceeding attention. As by any mixture with Virginia the temperature should be looked out. Burning down is constant with less condensate. At the end the fruity aroma slack off a little bit for the benefit of the taste of tobacco. A balance of medium grey, dry ash remains.
Redolency:
The redolence is dominated of the fruity aroma too. The smell reminds a little bit of apricot and the perfume note, which seems to be somewhat synthetic, but not unpleasing, is remarkable too. The Rainy Day is definitely a highly aromatic tobacco, what’ll make it rather acceptable.
Conclusion:
The Rainy Day is a higher aromatic mixture of medium fine and shortly cut tobaccos of different colours. The fruity, somewhat perfumed aroma is dominating the tobacco in both the taste and the redolence. Handling is uncomplicated, so that the light tobacco could be enjoyed at any occasion. Burning down is constant without much condensate. The Rainy Day is suited for beginners and enthusiasts of highly aromatic mixtures.
