Manufacturer Description:
Bright Virginia tobaccos stand out beautifully from brown Kentucky and jet black Cavendish. Hand-rubbed dark Virginia Flake, Fired Kentucky and a pinch of Perique refine the Mixture. A beguiling scent of Creme de Cassis is reflected in an aromatic redolency in the room.

Characterisation:
The metal box in which the Pipe 66 is packed, is printed with pipes and has a curved slip lid, giving the impression of a small treasure chest. Neither the cellophane bag contained therein nor the tin can be really hermetically sealed, so you should prefer to transfer the opened tobacco for a longer storage in another, better closable vessel. The tobaccos are cut differently, so mix black and light brown finer fibers with broader leaf flakes and dark brown, narrow cut Ready Rubbed pieces. This mixture smells intense berry-sweet and let expect a strong aroma. Since the tobacco is slightly moist between the fingers, it should be allowed to pre-dry for half an hour before being plugged.

Plugging:
The Pipe 66 can be plugged as usual for loose Mixtures despite its different sized components. If you start loosely down and end with gentle pressure, you will achieve a steady burning.

Light up:
The lighting of the Pipe 66 is quite simple according to the usual method. First, fill the pipe lightly, then tighten upwards and end with gentle pressure.

Smoking  properties:
The Pipe 66 shows, as already in the cold scent, clearly marked by the aroma. The strength of the tobacco is rather light and the smoke is pleasantly mild, so that the sweet, berry flavor can come into its own. The hints of black currants and an alcoholic freshness actually convey an impression of Creme de Cassis. The stronger tobaccos, such as Perique and Kentucky are at best to be heard as a light spice in the background, because the main role plays the flavor and this clearly. The fire is calm and uncomplicated, if you do not get too greedy, but from time to time you can use the tamper to bring the embers closer to the tobacco, which further improves the burning. The aroma fades to the last third of the filliing and causes the ground tobacco to protrude until only medium gray ash and a little condensate remains.

Redolency:
The redolence of the Pipe 66 is clearly marked by the berry-sweet aroma, so that the tobacco in company, which does not bother with "typical pipe fragrance" should not be noticed negatively.

Conclusion:
The black and light brown Pipe 66 is a Mixture of different cuts, which one can call with clear conscience as a full aromatic. It can be easily prepared despite the varied cross-sectional view and smoked too, where it clearly shows the used alcoholic sparkling aroma of black currants. The smoke is mild and sweet, while the basic tobaccos stay far in the background. The rather low nicotine content makes the Pipe 66 particularly suitable for beginners, but is also aimed primarily at lovers of flavored Mixtures. The clearly perfumed indoor air will please even non-smokers.
