Manufacturer Description:
An original blend from Samuel Gawith, Grousemoor conjures up a vision of the Lakeland scenery with its accompaniment of seasonal scents. Manufactured in the heart of Lakeland for over 200 years using a combination of hand-stripped, flue-cured leaf and a unique melange of flavours, Grousemoor is a "must" for smokers who want their days to have "Spring in the air".

Characterisation:
The Grousemoor is an orange-yellow to bright brown mixture of flue cured Virginias. The smell reminds to perfumed soap, whereby the flavour smells definitely as lemon. The flavour covers every smell of tobacco. The cut width is medium and the length ranges from rather short to very long. The tobacco feels a little bit sticky, but not as dampish one could suggest to.

Plugging:
The Grousemoor could be plugged very well. The cut allows rather easy to stuff the tobacco optimal and not too compact, whereby one should take attention, that no smaller tobacco particles block the airflow. It's recommended to twist proper loose bowls and plug them into the bowl.

Light up:
The tobacco could be light up easily with one flame. Thereby it tends to straighten a little bit, so that it should be slightly pressed down with the tamper immediately after light up. Possibly it may be necessary to re-ignite with another flame before the Grousemoor glows equally.

Smoking  properties:
The Grousemoor glows thanks to the excellent cut quality very evenly. Like most Virginia mixtures one must make sure that the tobacco glows not too hot. Smoked with a little attention, even when lighting it develops a distinct lemon flavor, which is evident in both the redolence and taste. In conjunction with the Virginia results a refreshingly fruity and acidic smoking experience. The aroma is almost imperceptible to the end, whereby in the last third the tobacco taste moves to the fore. The burning behaviour is well and the Grousemoor develops some condensate. The remaining ash is medium grey with some fine dark speckles.

Redolency:
Even when lighting up the lemon-like smell of the flavour reaches the smokers nose. This fruity and slightly sour smell, mixed with a slight sweetness of Virginia determined that smell. The Grousemoor should be welcome on most occasions.

Conclusion:
The Grousemoor is a bright mixture of flue cured Virginias with a "secret flavour" that smells a bit soapy and strongly reminiscent of lemon. The tobacco can be handled very well, but requires some attention with respect to it's temperature. While lighting up lemon is noticeable immediately in both the redolence and taste. The aroma is almost constant until the end, whereby in the last third a little more tobacco taste is noticeable. The burning behaviour is well with a little bit condensate development. The interesting flavour and good smoking qualities recommend the Grousemoor for every pipe smoker and the pleasant bouquet make it quite socially acceptable.
