Manufacturer Description:
Lots of Latakia isn't for everyone. Therefore, a light, very soft mixture was created that embodies all the advantages of an "English Mixture": Typical middle cut for all pipe sizes, slow and clean burning, soft and cool in the smoke. A delicate natural sweetness is characteristic here, which is achieved through a balanced composition of different degrees of Virginia, especially Maryland. The right mixture for real tobacco enjoyment without heaviness.
Characterisation:
The English Delight No 6 is packed in a small, high tin. Underneath the plastic lid is a tear-open foil lid. If you want to keep the opened tobacco for a longer period of time, you should pour it into an airtight container. A slightly smaller proportion of dark brown tobacco fibers can be seen in the predominantly golden and medium brown mixture. The fibers are quite long and the dark parts in particular are cut wider. The sweet scent evokes associations of smoke and autumn leaves and thus reveals the contained oriental tobacco. Since the tobacco has an almost ideal moisture content, it can be taken directly from the tin into the pipe.
Plugging:
As the English Delight No 6 is cut into longer fibres, care should be taken when plugging it. If you leave the tobacco enough space by becoming loose at the bottom and only gently firmer at the top, the result is a good filling.
Light up:
The English Delight No 6 can be easily lit with two flames. After the first flame, smooth the surface gently with the tamper before creating an even ember with the second flame.
Smoking properties:
As promised by the manufacturer, the English Delight No 6 is a lighter English blend. In the smoke, the tobacco is full and yet mild. The Virginias show their softest side here, gentle and almost flattering on the palate. The alkaline-sour Latakia also keeps the smoke cool. Instead of the usual hints of incense, this unusual blend has spicy, naturally sweet aromas reminiscent of prunes. The Latakia contributes an earthy, bittersweet note to this picture. The tobacco burns down well, but occasionally it may be necessary to press the tobacco closer to the embers or to re-fire. But this does not detract from the taste. Towards the end only some light and fine ash and hardly any condensate remain in the pipe.
Redolency:
Although the English Delight No 6 is a rather mild representative among the English tobaccos, the Latakia is clearly noticeable in the room note. So you should be considerate of non-smoking company.
Conclusion:
The English Delight No 6 keeps the promise made by the manufacturer. Already the predominantly medium-brown color, as well as the scent, which tends towards sweet rather than smoky, indicate a mildness that can also be felt in the smoke. Preparing and smoking the English Delight No 6 is very easy for the not entirely inexperienced smoker. Smoked relaxed, the earthy and spicy Latakia combine with the plum notes of the naturally sweet Virginias. The English Delight No 6 presents itself as an English tobacco without the associated heaviness and solidity. Due to the medium strength, the tobacco for lovers of the English direction is a companion for the whole day. But even the curious and beginners will surely like this gentle but not boring "Englishman".
