Manufacturer Description:
In the press ripened very sugary Virginias, wonderfully soft with noticeable sweetness. Also together with Latakia highly recommended.
Characterisation:
The Black Cavendish English Type is uniformly dark brown and black and cut rather long and wide. The fragrance from the freshly opened tin is sweet and sour and reminds of fruit tea, even if there was used absolutely no flavor. The tobacco seems a little dry, as it rustles in the tin; but for a blending tobacco this is rather an advantage since it is easier to mix with other tobaccos.
Plugging:
The Black Cavendish English Type is a Loose Cut that can be plugged more tightly. Even during smoking, it may sometimes be necessary to use the tamper again so that the embers burn down evenly.
Light up:
Plugged attentively, the Black Cavendish English Type suffices a single flame and a gentle smoothing with the tamper, for an even embers.
Smoking properties:
Black Cavendish tobaccos are usually known as the bearers of sweet flavors of the Danish type, but here it comes without flavor, thus enabling to get to know the benefits of a prepared but natural tobacco. The Black Cavendish English Type fills the mouth with creamy smoke. A light, unobtrusive floweriness is to taste out and at the same time a delicate spice, but above all a clear natural sweetness, which harmonizes with a mild note of toasted bread. The burning is uncomplicated - apart from an occasional tamping. In the pipe, pale fine ash remains and hardly condensation, while the wall of the burning chamber being slightly sticky. But this is easy to clean.
Redolency:
The Black Cavendish English Type is tobacco genuine, but slightly sweet, so that in a tolerant society hardly anyone will complain.
Conclusion:
The Black Cavendish English Type is a very dark Loose Cut, whose sweet and sour fruity smell already suggests the expected flavors. The Black Cavendish English Type delivers a completely natural sweetness and a soft roasted bread note, accompanied by a delicate florality and spiciness. Due to this interesting combination of mild aromas, the Black Cavendish English Type is quite usefull for a pure smoke, but also good in Mixtures. The Black Cavendish English Type can be used for the gentle rounding off of stronger blends (for example in a higher proportion of Kentucky or Latakia), dosed or even in larger portions - according to personal taste.
