Manufacturer Description:
Burley, Virginia and Black Cavendish were gently double fermented here. The result is a very appealing, subtly sweet and particularly soft blend with the natural tobacco character and a pleasantly fragrant room note.
Characterisation:
If you open the round tin of Black Cavendish and open the paper rosette, you will see a wavy cardboard cover that feels dry. The underlying tobacco is not damp either. Narrow, medium-wide fibers mix with a very finely cut and ground Ready Rubbed. The color image is evenly medium, dark and black brown. The rising scent is pungently sweet and reminiscent of prunes. Due to the good conditioning of the tobacco, it is not necessary to let the Black Cavendish pre-dry before plugging.
Plugging:
The Black Cavendish is so well conditioned that it's easy to plug. It doesn't need much attention. As long as you start loosely at the bottom and gradually get firmer towards the top, you will achieve a good burn.
Light up:
The fine cut of the Black Cavendish makes it easy to light the tobacco. After the first flame, you should still smooth the tobacco gently with the tamper and then light it up again. In this way, the surface ignites evenly.
Smoking properties:
The Black Cavendish delivers a smooth smoke that is not overwhelming in strength. This harmonises with a fine tobacco flavor and a remarkable sweetness reminiscent of dried fruit. Fruity and fresh, it gives the smoke more lightness and seems absolutely natural. The Cavendish used is at its best here. Occasionally it may be necessary to press down gently with the tamper, but overall the course of the smoke is calm and unobtrusive. Even the fine, light-colored ash that remains and the hardly any condensate present do not cause any trouble while cleaning.
Redolency:
The smoke of the Black Cavendish, although slightly sweet, smells like tobacco, so it depends on society whether it accepts the tobacco.
Conclusion:
The Black Cavendish is so well prepared that it requires little attention. Both the cut and the low moisture content make plugging and lighting easy. Apart from an occasional tamping, you can fully concentrate on the aroma. This seems natural, even in the mild tobacco flavor mixes a clear fruity sweetness, which is fresh and light, with the not too strong smoke. This makes a very pleasant taste. So the Black Cavendish is a good tobacco for every occasion. Of course, it is also worthwhile for all those who would like to try a Cavendish-dominated tobacco.
