Characterisation:
Upon opening the round tin of the Pipe Tobacco Flake de Luxe a pleasant apricot scent rises into the nose. The flakes in their wrapping paper are quite broad, pale to medium brown with a few dark spots. They seem a little dry and crumbly, but the flakes stick together so tightly that they can hardly be taken out of the tin individually, which is compounded by the tendency to disintegrate.
Plugging:
The Pipe Tobacco Flake de Luxe is yet to be predestined smoked as Mixture because of its appearance, as it hardly can be separated as a single flake slice from the others. Due to the relatively dry and crumbly consistency rather the Pipe Tobacco Flake de Luxe is easy to rub and can be taken straight to the pipe without first drying. Do not plug too tightly, otherwise later when smoking tobacco tends to go out often and you are forced to light up some more times. Pulled residues of tobacco crumbs as the top layer facilitate the kindling.
Light up:
If the Pipe Tobacco Flake de Luxe is not too tight stuffed as described above it burns evenly after two flames. Since it does not tolerate too tight plugging, you can keep off to smoothen the surface with the tamper. Only when the filling is burned down something you can work smoothly with only the weight of the tamper, but in no case with pressure.
Smoking properties:
The Pipe Tobacco Flake de Luxe has a spicy, rich smoke to have reason to believe that Perique is the not mentioned another ingredient, but this will probably remain Bjarne Nielsen's secret ... The quality Virginia tastes pleasantly sweet, mitigating and you feel it if you smoke too hasty, because the tobacco then gargles something. But the tobacco does not bite on the tongue, as in Virginia tobaccos it is the case. An aromatization is not to taste and if it is or not - it does the natural flavors of the tobacco of toasted rye bread and apricots no harm. All what remains is medium gray ash and some condensate, but this requires little effort in cleaning.
Redolency:
The room note of Pipe Tobacco Flake de Luxe is genuine tobacco, but not pushy, light sweet and therefore in a tolerant society entirely to its acceptance.
Conclusion:
The Pipe Tobacco Flake de Luxe is a rather light brown marbled flake. It smells very appetizing after apricot, but unfortunately it can be difficult to remove a flake out of the tin because the individual slices stick together firmly. For the smoking experience this is not harmful, because the flake likes to be plugged loosely, whis is best when rubbed out as a Mixture. This is very accommodating in its taste. Burning evenly, it serves sweet notes of Virginia, reminiscent of rye bread, roasted aromas and bright stone fruit. This is combined with a pleasant spicy component about which can only speculated, as Bjarne Nielsen holds its secret recipe. And right so, because this tobacco, with its average strength and the balanced mix, gives both the experienced smokers, as well as the flake beginners a pleasant, spicy yet mild smoke for anytime of the day.
