Manufacturer Description:
This powerful "Dark Fired" tobacco, has a dark and mossy fragrance. The basis of this blend are different Virginia and Kentucky tobaccos. These are baked 24 hours in oven, pressed into a flake and then rubbed by hand. The complex flavors form a perfectly balanced taste-profile, which creates a rich, upscale and creamy smoke with every puff. Lovers of strong "ready rubbed" tobaccos will love the "Lakeland Dark".

The Lakeland Dark is a predominantly brown ready rubbed tobacco with few almost black proportions. The original flakes were quite wide cut and then rubbed vigorously, so that all is a very loose mixture. Ostensibly Lakeland Dark smells as his appearance and name suggests especially dark and earthy, but underneath lies a sweet aroma of coumarin how it is known and sometimes more significantly with it from other tobaccos from the house Samuel Gawith. It seems to be almost a little too wet so the Lakeland Dark can withstand it about half an hour to become revealed before the plugging.

The Lakeland Dark should not be plugged too tightly, because the originally pressed and then rubbed tobacco rises slightly under the flame. Some loose tobacco crumbs at the top of the filling ensure an easier adoption of fire.

Light up:
The ignition of the Lakeland Dark is when pre-dried a little and stuffed not too tightly quite simple. After one slight smoothing of the first ash with the tamper and the second flame an uncomplicated smoking is no problem.

Smoking  properties:
The Lakeland Dark fulfills the manufacturer promises in flavor. Its smoke is dense and lush, while spicy with a bitter sweetness in the background. An aroma possibly used such as coumarin, which could be responsible for this sweetness is not to taste. The tobacco is quite strong, but not overly severe. The Lakeland Dark, however, should be smoked aware, because if puffed too greedy, the smoke becomes acrid. So you should be careful to keep the pipe cool, otherwise the tongue burns and gargling threatens and thus also increases the cleaning effort. Otherwise just a little medium gray ash is left with few residues and some condensate.

The room touch of Lakeland Dark is truly tobacco in the smoke due to its natural components and because of that suitable for a society, which is tolerant.

The Lakeland Dark is a brown, thorough rubbed ready rubbed that should be revealed a little before smoking. Then plugging and igniting are easy, but it should be smoked deliberately, because otherwise it is harsh. In any case, due to its strength and robust spiciness it is directed to more experienced smokers and lovers of natural, only concealed sweet tobaccos, who like to slowly smolder a tobacco in their pipes and can enjoy finer interacting of flavors.

5 of 5 Stars!Tony M., 12/29/2018
A strong, smooth dark tobacco, a Virginia base with Kentucky, this is a mans smoke. It is Sam Gawith's 1792, without the Tonquin bean flavouring, this tobacco needs some rubbing out but once packed into a medium sized bowl, this will give a long satisfying smoke, a little heavy perhaps for some, but in the winter I can't do without it. Similar to Petersons Irish Flake, but Lakeland is stronger. One of my favourites.
