Manufacturer Description:
The main character of taste is finest Perique, enhanced by dark fired Virginia tobaccos and a dash of Oriental. Highly aromatic pleasure with typical Perique character.
Characterisation:
The almost square-looking slices lie in the unusually small rectangular tin, packed in slightly dampened wax paper. The Flakes are predominantly black to dark brown and pervaded by lighter veins. The fragrance of the Empire Perique Flake is a pungent, fruity-sourish scent reminiscent of tomato ketchup, as typical for perique-tobaccos. The individual Flakes can be taken pretty well as one piece out of the tin, but are a bit brittle, so you should be a little careful.
Plugging:
The Empire Perique Flake can be well brought into the pipe bend and folded with some attention. Of course you can also grate the tobacco and stuff it as a Ready Rubbed. Unlike usual with Flakes, the Empire Perique Flake can also be plugged a bit tighter, because it helps the burning behaviour.
Light up:
If you smooth the surface with the tamper after the first flame and then carefully give fire again, the Empire Perique flake burns to the end of the filling.
Smoking properties:
The Empire Perique Flake is smoked easily, if you use the tamper sometimes to bring the embers to the tobacco. The aromas are mild-spicy with distinct hints of toasted bread, which are paired with a fine-sour note. Overall, the natural tobacco flavors interact very harmoniously. If you press the embers from time to time with the pusher gently to the tobacco, the empire burns Perique Flake without further notice and leaves only a little dark ash. This makes, as well as the hardly resulting condensate, little work in the cleaning of the pipe.
Redolency:
The scent of the Empire Perique Flake is, as it is a non-flavored and Oriental containing tobacco, spicy and should therefore be enjoyed only in tolerant or smoking society.
Conclusion:
The Empire Perique Flake is an almost square, dark Flake that does not require excessive attention, but does not appeal to absolute beginners - you should be familiar with handling flakes. The moderate strength and its rather uncomplicated smoking behavior make the Empire Perique Flake, however, the ideal tobacco for every occasion. The range of flavors serves the expectations of a tobacco containing Virgina and Perique. The contained Oriental brings just a mildness. Otherwise are dominating slightly spicy tobacco notes and toasted bread notes with a fine acidity typical for Perique. Thus, the Empire Perique Flake presents itself as a classic Virginia-Perique-Mixture in Flake-form, which knows how to convince lovers of this direction in particular.
