Manufacturer Description:
The Dunhill Dark Flake recipe dates back to 1971. Selected dark Virginia tobaccos were refined with air-cured perique and pressed to a flake. A full-bodied, medium-strong smoking pleasure with a balanced sweetness and subtle notes of dried fruits with a slow burning awaits you. The Dunhill Dark Flake belongs to the "unforgettable" type.

Characterisation:
The Dark Flake lies slightly fanned out in a round tin. The individual flakes are cleanly cut, however quite crumbly, but at the same time so elastic, that they can be taken with some caution in one part from the tin. The flakes are dark brown with medium brown veins and golden sprinkles. The scent, which rises from the freshly opened tin is sweet-lusty and reminds of black bread.

Plugging:
If you handle it cautiously, you can give the Dark Flake bent and folded into the pipe. However, the flakes can also easily be rubbed to the personal preference, so it can be stuffed into the pipe as Ready Rubbed. This can be done a bit tighter, since the Dark Flake - in contrast to many other Flakes - well tolerates this.

Light up:
The Dark Flake burns quickly. After the first flame, you go smoothly with the tamper over the filling, fire again and lean back relaxed.

Smoking  properties:
Although the Dark Flake is not to call light, the mild, creamy smoke of the tobacco is immediately apparent. The Perique seems to serve the rounding off and appears in the taste only as a very subtle finely sour appearance. The Dark Flake offers the whole range of first-class Virginia. In the soft smoke you find roasted aromas, echoes of good black-bread, velvety-tart bitter chocolate and the warm sweetness of dried fruit, which the manufacturer promises. These flavors alternate, and then appear again more distinctly, so that there is a very varied smoking experience. When the flavors become heavier and the strenght rises slightly, the pipe is already burnt down quite calml and cool, and the medium-gray ash is rapidly cleaned off with some unburned crumbs and hardly condensation.

Redolency:
The room note of the Dark Flake is clearly for real tobacco, so that one should rather avoid non-smoking society.

Conclusion:
The Dark Flake is a clean cut, but a bit crumbly Flake of dark brown color, which is loosened by light brown and golden inclusions. With a little caution, the flakes can be taken individually from the tin and smoked bend and folded. Then unfolding both the sweet black-bread aromas of the cold smell, as well as toasted notes and even hints of dark bitter chocolate and dried fruit - a thoroughly interesting smoking experience. If you can deal with flakes in general, the Dark Flake will find a very uncomplicated tobacco, which is easy to smoke and not overwhelming by its strength, but which can be anything but not boring. Beginners will be equally impressed with it, as well as lovers of Virginia-based flakes. The reawakening of an old tobacco has not always been successful, but here it is!
