A wonderfully full-bodied yet surprisingly soft dark flake tobacco, made in classic English style from full, natural Virginia grade and a good portion of the spicy Louisiana Perique, fermented under pressure and after a few months of storage to the optimum maturity cut in slices and vacuum packed. "English taste at its best!".
The golden speckled Flake, marbled in all brown tones, smells appetizing of orange marmelade with cloves and anise when the tin is opened. Due to their moisture the wide Flakes stick very much together, so they can hardly be removed individually - a longer predrying before smoking improves this and also the smoke course.
The St. Bernard Flake should be stuffed carefully. While removing it from the tin, it is evident that from the Flakes just loose fibers can be separated. These should then not be filled too tightly or too loose, possibly even more rubbed into the pipe. Experience in handling this tobacco facilitates this procedure over time.
The St. Bernard Flake also requires attention when igniting. However, several flames and repeated tamping lead to a very reliable glow.
If you have done the worthwhile preparation, the St. Bernard Flake delivers a pleasantly creamy and lush smoke, which gently tingles in the mouth, which should not be confused with tongue bite. The aromas are those of a typical Virginia-Perique: roasted, sourish-sweetish, but accompanied by a slightly salty, spicy liquorices note. Because of this, this tobacco stands out from other Virginia-Perique mixtures. As with many tobaccos of this kind, one should not smoke too greedy, since the St. Bernard Flake tends to gargle. After a very even burning, bright, fine ash and some condensation remain, which is hardly work at the cleaning.
The St. Bernard Flake room note is tobacco genuine and spicy, so that a tolerant or also smoking society is needed, if one does not want to enjoy the tobacco alone.
The St. Bernard Flake is a wide flake, gold-speckled and brown marbled. The slightly sticky, rather moist consistency dictates the preparation, so that the flake is directed to more experienced smokers. The sophisticated smoking characteristics of a typical Virginia-Perique also make this a tobacco for lovers. And you could actually fall in love with this luscious creamy tobacco with its unusual natural note of salty liquorices.
