Manufacturer Description:
A blend of Virginia and Burley tobaccos, topped off with Black Cavendish. A characteristic blend with a delicate cherry flavor. The Colts Ruby stands out for its delicious cherry flavor in a blend of Virginia and Burley tobaccos rounded off with Black Cavendish. An interesting pipe tobacco that appeals to younger and unconventional pipe smokers due to its very attractive price, excellent quality and fruity flavoring. Colts is easy to smoke and is therefore very suitable for beginners.
Characterisation:
The Ruby comes in a pouch for on the go, as well as in a high aluminum-lined cardboard box with a plastic and a tear-open lid. If you want to store the tobacco so for a longer time, it is advisable in both cases, the Ruby in an airtight sealable vessel, so that the aroma is retained. The rather broadly cut fibers are uniformly mixed medium-, russet- and dark brown and exude a sweetish-intense, slightly alcoholic scent of cherries. For a flavored tobacco, the moisture content is quite balanced, so you do not have to pre-dry the Ruby before plugging.
Plugging:
The Ruby provides an uniform burning very uncomplicated, by stuffing it, as usual for loose Mixtures, more loosely at the bottom and gently tighter at the top.
Light up:
After the first flame, you can even smooth the surface with the tamper before firing again evenly, creating a lasting glow.
Smoking properties:
The Ruby is rather light and can also be smoked by the way because of its quiet burning behavior. In the smoke of Ruby are quite the basic tobaccos to taste, these are soft and gently spicy, crossed by a fine sweetness. Even if it does not seem obtrusive, the overall impression is characterized by the used cherry flavor. In the course of smoking, however, this recedes and makes the basic tobaccos protrude more spicy. The remaining medium gray ash and the little condensate makes cleaning a simple matter.
Redolency:
The redolency of Ruby is characterized by the cherry flavor and can lead to non-smokers to the typical "pipe-scent associations", which makes it quite sociable.
Conclusion:
The Ruby is a Mixture in all shades of brown, which already smells intensively for the used aroma. This is then the tone in smoking. The really mild spice of Ruby is accompanied by sweet cherry flavor, which could last a little longer, before the basic tobaccos come to the fore. Nevertheless, the Ruby is so easy to prepare and smoke that it is fully suitable for beginners and also those who really want to try a typical "cherry tobacco", because they get in any case.
