Manufacturer Description:
"Port Latakia“, an English blend with 50 per cent Latakia. Virginia and oriental grades give this blend a prominent sweet taste that initially force the Latakia into the background. It is only after some time of smoking that the Latakia gets the upper hand and start to dominate the flavor. This interplay of tastes is what makes this English blend so charming. Sweet, airy and spicy – these are the “Port Latakia“‘s governing attributes. It is an interesting blend for sworn fans of Latakia and for those who want to become it. …Latakia - sweet and spicy.

Characterisation:
The tin of the Original Warehouseblend Port Latakia is closed with a pressure lid as well as a plastic cover. If we open both, we see an almost black tobacco, which is penetrated with a few dark and light-brown portions. The tobacco fibers are cut rather short and broad and give off a smoky, dull sweetish scent, which betrays the contained oriental tobaccos. The tobacco is not too moist, but it should be allowed to dry before lighting, so that it can get the flame more quickly.

Plugging:
As a loose Mixture the Original Warehouseblend Port Latakia can be plugged quite uncomplicated. Starting loose, one ends up getting tighter. The pipe should not be plugged too full, as the tobacco must be gently pressed back a few times under the flame.

Light up:
The lighting of the Original Warehouseblend Port Latakia should be made carefully, since the tobacco rises only slightly under the flame, but several flames are required until the surface is evenly ignited even with the use of the tamper. But then the tobacco burns uncomplicated to the end.

Smoking  properties:
The Original Warehouseblend Port Latakia is already more spicy from the beginning, as from the manufacturer specified, but this means absolutely nothing negative! On the contrary, the different flavors harmonize very pleasantly with each other. When the Virginia and probably the Black Cavendish yield a light sweetness and notes of toasted bread, the Latakia gives it its own smoky spiciness and a discreet ethereal incense note in the background. The Oriental gives the whole a rounding fullness, but occurs never in the foreground. The pipe should not be puffed too violently, since the pipe may begin to gargle probably due to the higher Virginia content. In fact, the spice of the Original Warehouseblend Port Latakia intensifies in the further uncomplicated smoking process, until only a little gray, fine ash and some condensate remain, which can be eliminated with little effort.

Redolency:
The smell in the room of the Original Warehouseblend Port Latakia is, as usual for English tobaccos, unfortunately not pleasantly for the "housewife" and therefore should not be smoked in non-smoking society. But it is a good tobacco for pleasant walks, as it does not lose its flavors even in the fresh air.

Conclusion:
The Original Warehouseblend Port Latakia is a dark Mixture whose fragrance immediately reveals the content of oriental tobaccos. Slightly pre-dried, the tobacco can be plugged and ignited well by experienced smokers. Notable is the harmony between the various tobaccos used for these Mixture. While Virginia and Black Canvendish contribute sweet toasted notes, Latakia and the Oriental are somewhat stronger with their spices and familiar incense flavors, thus providing a rich, but not too heavy, smoking experience. This is why motivated beginners who want to "sniff" into the English tobaccos in the Original Warehouseblend Port Latakia will find a pleasant test object that already has something very typical without frightening. All others enjoy this tobacco simply as a typical, rather light English for anytime.
