Manufacturer Description:
Bahia Orange is a dark pressend ready rubbed flake from Indian and Brazilian Virginia leaf, spiced up with some little unflavored Black Cavendish for interest. A delicate infusion of sweet nut, dark chocolate and bitter orange presents a distinct, likewise balanced flavor. Bahia Orange is an anything but everyday smoking pleasure with a sweet and spicy taste.
Characterisation:
When you open the tin of Bahia O., the intense scent immediately reminds you of biscuits filled with orange jelly and covered with dark chocolate. The appetizingly fragrant, finely cut and grated Ready Rubbed shows a medium brown color with slightly lighter spots. The moisture content of the freshly opened tin is so balanced that the Bahia O. can be given into the pipe immediately.
Plugging:
Due to the Ready Rubbed Cut with its different components, you should be careful not to fill the pipe too tightly when plugging. But you can proceed in the usual way and bring the Bahia O. into the pipe, becoming firmer towards the top.
Light up:
Just as with the plugging, the Bahia O. also requires a little attention when lighting. If you take care to ignite the surface evenly, then gently level with the tamper and use a second flame, you can quickly create a good bed of embers.
Smoking properties:
The Bahia O. is not a particularly biting representative of the group of aromatics, but you should keep it cool and not smoke too greedily. Then it rewards you with an expressive aroma. This is clearly sweet and slightly tart and sour, also reminiscent of orange peel. In addition, a hint of "perfume" can be tasted, reminiscent of typical Irish blends, and the dried fruit-sweet nuttiness of the Virginia used is also represented slightly in the background. The Black Cavendish is more intense with its chocolate flavors and dominates the smoke until the end of the filling. The burning is even, but it can happen that you have to fire up from time to time. However, this does not detract from the aroma. The Bahia O. also leaves very little condensate in the pipe for an aromatic. Like the medium gray ash, this requires little cleaning work.
Redolency:
The smoke of the Bahia O. is clearly fruity due to the sweet aroma, so that the tobacco can certainly meet with goodwill in society.
Conclusion:
The Ready Rubbed Bahia O. cut requires some attention when preparing, and one should not be too careless when smoking, but the medium-strong Bahia O. does not prove to be overly complicated. On the contrary, for such a distinctly flavored tobacco, it is easy to handle and delivers a rock-solid aroma. This outweighs the underlying tobaccos and shows a clear chocolaty sweetness, paired with the tart freshness of oranges, whereby the tobacco is expressly aimed at lovers of fully aromatic mixtures who, thanks to the lovely aroma, can hardly expect any problems with non-smoking company.
