Manufacturer Description:
Scotch Cut Mixture is one of the original Samuel Gawith blends. A balanced selection of Virginias, Burley, Latakia and our own Empire Black Cavendish gives Scotch Cut a full flavoured yet medium strength smoking experience.
Characterisation:
The Scotch Cut Mixture is a medium-fine blend of light and medium brown tobaccos with single, almost black broken flake pieces. The tobacco smells like a not too large, balanced portion of Latakia. The Cut of the individual types of tobacco is very different, so that one can rather speak of a "Wild Cut" as a Mixture. The tobacco is well-conditioned and does a balanced impression.
Plugging:
The Scotch Cut Mixture can be plugged easily. It's recommended to twist the tobacco portionwise between the fingers to loose balls and fill them without much pressure into the bowl. Some small crumbs in the end make it easier to light up.
Light up:
The tobacco could be light up easily with 1 or 2 flames. Depending of the plug method it tends a little bit to straighten up. After a briefe depression with the tamper it glows evenly - in most cases without a relight.
Smoking properties:
The Scotch Cut Mixture is a pleasantly balanced, medium-strength mixture, where the Latakia is not as dominant as in English mixtures is often the case. The interaction of the different varieties of tobacco is a fine, slightly sweet taste of Virginia and Burley, which combines with spicy Latakia and Cavendish to a pleasant picture. Nevertheless, the tobacco will not superficial, as the interplay of the nuances with the constant taste of Latakia in the background, result in a really smoking pleasure. The burning process is straightforward with little condensate, the tobacco is therefore suitable in any occasion without excessive attention to smoke. The remaining bright ash acknowledge an even burn.
Redolency:
In the redolence you can clearly note the English character of the Scotisch Cut Mixture. But the balance between the various types of tobacco is an unobtrusive scent, so that the tobacco should be without problems in almost every society.
Conclusion:
The Scotish Cut Mixture is a rather "wild" blend of tobaccos with different cut. The composition of the different varieties of tobacco produces a balanced, interesting taste, whereby the Latakia is always clearly remarkable, but not dominant. The tobacco is totally easy to use and while glowing down, so that it is well suited for beginners in terms of English mixtures. For the experienced smoker, it's an uncomplicated pleasure, but as an "All-Day-Smoke" perhaps a little too ordinary.
