Manufacturer Description:
This full-bodied English mixture is carefully crafted for the experienced pipe smoker. Virginia and Turkish tobaccos harmonize with Cypriot Latakia and a touch of Perique to create a taste that is resoundingly rich, spicy and satisfying.
Characterisation:
The Artisan's Blend is a powerful, dark mixture whose English character comes from the spice-tobaccos Latakia and Orient. The tobacco is cut medium-wide and predominantly short. Dark brown to black tobaccos dominate, some orange parts are forming a matching contrast. The Artisan's Blend typically smells of Latakia with Orient, Virginia and Perique couldn't be smelled out. The cut is homogeneous with optimal humidity.
Plugging:
The Artisan's Blend lets itself stuff well on grounds of the rather fine cut. One can let the tobacco trickle portion-wisely into the pipe bowl and dampen down layer for layer, until the wished filling-height is reached.
Light up:
The Artisan's Blend could be light up easily with 1 to 2 flames. The tobacco doesn't tend to straighten up and glows rather equal from the beginning.
Smoking properties:
After light up, the Artisan's Blend immediately develops its spicy taste. The Latakia can clearly be out-tasted, the Orient admittedly is clearly noticeable, but not dominant. Virginia and Perique round off the mixture so that the taste is pleasantly mellow. The Artisan's Blend should be smoked slowly and cool so that its taste-nuances get the validity right. The medium-strong tobacco glows down then good-naturedly with little condensate to a bright grey ash.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Artisan's Blend is clear embossed from the spice-tobaccos. Latakia and Orient develop a spicy-smoky scent, that can be calmed down by Virginia and Perique hardly. The Artisan's Blend therefore is suitable only for societies where strong English mixtures with Latakia and Orient are welcome.
Conclusion:
The Artisan's Blend is a fine mixture of dark tobaccos and some orange parts with clearly English Character. The spice-tobaccos Latakia and Orient dominate taste and redolence, with what Virginia and Perique make the taste pleasantly mellow. The Artisan's Blend should be smoked slowly and cool so that its taste-nuances get the validity fully. The tobacco glows down good-naturedly with little condensate to a light grey ash. It keeps its medium strength from the beginning to the end. The Artisan's Blend is suitable for smokers, who have experiences with this tobacco-kind, on grounds of the clearly English character.
