Manufacturer Description:
A tobacco made from a high proportion of red and gold Virginia, rounded off with a little Black Cavendish and Latakia. A medium strong mixture with a complex sweetness and delicious rich tobacco flavors.
Characterisation:
The Wingfield Mixture mainly consists of finely chopped, medium brown and somewhat wider dark brown tobacco, among which a few lighter fine fibers and coarser flakes mix. The rising scent is slightly grassy and reminiscent of hay, with a fruity-sweet note. Typical Latakia aromas cannot be sniffed out. The moisture content is moderate, so you can plug the Wingfield Mixture straight away.
Plugging:
The fine cut of the Wingfield Mixture makes it easy to bring the tobacco into the pipe. If you start loosely at the bottom and become gently firmer towards the top, you will achieve an even burning.
Light up:
The lighting of the Wingfield Mixture is also easy. After the first flame, gently press the tobacco with the tamper and fire again. The resulting embers last until the end of the filling.
Smoking properties:
The Wingfield Mixture is not a typical English mixture, as its Lataka content is rather low. Dominating are the aromas of Virginia, which combine a grassy-sour hay note and something woody with a dark, background fruit sweetness maybe due the Black Cavendish. This is paired with a fine spice, which one can attribute to the Latakia. These flavors are mild and hardly stressful and the Wingfield Mixture also smokes down like that. One would have to put in a lot of effort and smoke too hard so that there is a slight tingling on the tongue. If the tobacco is smoked down, only fine, light ash and hardly any condensate remain, which makes cleaning very easy.
Redolency:
The smoke of the Wingfield Mixture smells for tobacco, but not as intense as some other Latakia mixtures, so it depends on the tolerance of the respective society whether it accepts the tobacco.
Conclusion:
The predominantly fine and medium brown cut of the Wingfield Mixture makes plugging and lighting quite easy. The moderate strength and the rather uncomplicated burning make the Mixture particularly suitable for beginners. Smokers who want to try a tobacco containing Latakia could also start with the Wingfield Mixture. Because in addition to a light spice, the Virginia aroma dominates the Mixture, which combines typical hay notes and a light fruity sweetness. The tobacco is not very demanding and hardly stressful for a tobacco containing Latakia, which makes the Wingfield Mixture an ideal companion for the whole day.
