Manufacturer Description:
An expertly composition for the ambitious epicure! This smoothly-fruity mixture is characterized by a high amount of spicy-sweet Virginia-Flake. Opulent refined with twice roasted Black Cavendish, which was rounded with delicate fruity flavours of pure apples, cherries and mirabelles. Beamy and fine broken Golden Virginia with sweetly-subtly nuances of lemon gives this tobacco an exquisite bouquet.
Characterisation:
A colourful mixture with unequal hues of brown tobaccos, over all a little bit rough cut. Long yellow, short brown and nearly black streaks, mixed with ready rubbed flake. Opening the tin the flavours of apple and mirabelle are dominant. Cherry is rather unobtrusive at the background, but also remarkable as the fine nuance of Virginia.
Plugging:
Due the little wild cut Sillem’s Red is pluggable without any problems. It’s recommended to place a twisted bowl at the end as a shot plug, to make it easier to light up the tobacco.
Light up:
Well compressed, not too compact, the tobacco could be lighted up easily. One or two flames are enough, because the tobacco doesn’t tend to swell too much.
Smoking properties:
Sillem’s Red is a well-balanced mixture, whereas both flavours and tobacco comes into their own. Ostensible is the flavour of mirabelle, attended by cherry and a little bit of apple. A fine taste of tobacco associates, too. The fruity aromas give a light sourly, but not unpleasant, feeling on the tongue. At the end the aromatic accents will come more to the background to the benefit of the tobacco, but they are remarkable till to the end. The tobacco could be smoked without a lot of attention, burns down not too slow and a medium grey and dry ash will remain.
Redolency:
The redolence is affected by a mixture of dominant flavours and a fine scent of tobacco. Mirabelle is the distinctive flavour, but apple and cherry sway the smell, too. Fresh Virginia complements the pleasing, unobtrusive redolence.
Conclusion:
Sillem's Red is a pleasant smoking tobacco. A lot of nuances, but all clearly remarkable. This tobacco wants to be explored! The fruity redolence makes this tobacco acceptable to the surrounding and the well-balanced mixture of excellent tobaccos emphasize this, too. Easy to handle and with good smoking properties Sillem’s Red suggests to enthusiasts of aromatic mixtures, as well as to newcomers.
