Black Parrot is a unique square cut straight Virginia of crusted appearance formulated from a balanced blend of Virginia, Flavoury Carolina and pure Louisiana Perique. A blend that encom-passes flavour, maturity and mellow smoking. The serveral growths interact and the skill of the blender is exercised in arriving at a balance to tempt the palate. Made on the cold press "Scottish Press" method, the block of leaf is held for one day under pressure and heat and left for weeks to gently cool down and for the flavours to merge. The pressure is maintained and as the blend matures it darkens in colour to produce maturity and character. A great favourite with both young and experienced smokers worldwide.
Characterisation:
The Black Parrot Special Cut is a roughly cut, ready rubbed flake from gold-yellow and dark brown tobaccos. The tobacco smells intensively, whereby one can recognize exactly as well the fresh Virginia as the sweetly Louisiana Perique. The Perique develops a scent of dark black-bread with a hint of discreet sweetness, that should come from the ripening of the Perique with plum-juice. The tobacco is well conditioned and feels satin soft despite the cut.
Plugging:
The Black Parrot Special Cut lets itself plug well. It's recommended due to the rough cut to turn the tobacco portion-wisely between fingers to fluffily balls and to stuff these carefully into the tobacco-chamber. Like a flake it should not be plugged to compressed, because it still extends something while glowing down. The last layer possibly should consist of a few smaller tobacco-crumbs, but it should be pressed at least however well.
Light up:
The Black Parrot Special Cut could be light up well with 1 to 2 flames. The tobacco clearly tends to straighten up on that occasion so that one immediately must dampen down something with the tamper. Usually one doesn't have to re-ignite the tobacco, however, unless, it glows irregular.
Smoking properties:
The Black Parrot Special Cut develops its strong, something dark tobacco-taste by the first draw. The tobacco must be smoked alertly since it becomes fast too hot otherwise. Coolly and slowly smoked, different tastes develop, that harmonize wonderfully together: Some sparkling freshness from the Virginia, the strength from the Carolina and the dark, slightly sweet taste of Perique. An aftertaste, that reminds of dark chocolate, is recognizable. The Black Parrot Special Cut glows down evenly without much condensate to a light grey ash with some dark speckles. One should heed, that the strength of the tobacco is at least something over medium!
Redolency:
The redolence of the Black Parrot Special Cut is strong as ripe and therefore slightly sweet tobacco. Through the treatment of the Perique with plum-juice, the clearly character of pipe tobacco is recognizable. One can also smell, however, that the tobacco is somewhat more powerful. The Black Parrot Special Cut gets somewhat more attention of its surrounding but without to be unpleasantly or even obtrusive however.
Conclusion:
The Black Parrot Special Cut is a roughly cut, ready rubbed flake with gold-yellow to dark brown colour. The tobacco smells intensively already by opening the tin, mainly to fresh Virginia and dark Perique. After igniting, the different tobaccos, with the sparkling freshness of the Virginia, the strength of the Carolina and the dark, discreet sweetness of the Periques are recognizable, unite harmoniously. The aftertaste reminds of dark chocolate. The Black Parrot Special Cut is easy to handle, but still neither should be plugged too firmly nor be smoked too hot. With the necessary attention enjoyed, the tobacco glows slowly until the end, whereby the taste hardly changes. The tobacco develops some condensate and the remaining ash is light grey, sometimes with a few dark parts. The Black Parrot Special Cut is in spite of its clearly strength commendable for both circumspect beginners and experienced smokers.
