Characterisation:
Since the London Blend No 1000 is packaged in a tall can with a pull-off lid, you should transfer the tobacco to an airtight container if you want to store it for a longer period of time. The plastic lid is more suitable for short-term storage. The mixture is mainly medium and black brown. Only a few lighter fibers mix with it. The cut is coarser, partly flaky and overall rather short. The scent of the London Blend No 1000 is reminiscent of leaf fire and appears slightly salty, with a faint tart sweetness to be sniffed. As the moisture content is so good that the London Blend No 1000 can be smoked straight away without the need for drying first.
Plugging:
Due to the moderate moisture content and the small-leaf cut, the London Blend No 1000 can be easily brought into the pipe. If you start loosely at the bottom and become gently firmer towards the top, you will achieve a good filling.
Light up:
Here, too, the good consistency of the London Blend No 1000 plays to its advantage. The tobacco takes on the flame quickly and glows evenly after a short press and another flame.
Smoking properties:
The London Blend No 1000 delivers a luscious smoke that is smooth in the mouth. The African Virginias with their typical rather earthy and woody aromas and just a hint of fruitiness and grass form the roasty-spicy base. The herbal, floral-sour Turkish Oriental and the hearty and smoky Latakia are very harmoniously integrated. The latter is also blown out through the nose, with fruity-sour spiciness. Sweetness stays strong in the background. This creates a well-rounded overall picture, to which each tobacco contributes its part without becoming overwhelming or too complex. You shouldn't smoke too greedily, otherwise you could feel the Virginias, but the taste is almost creamy, cool and burns evenly. This one is uncomplicated and slow thanks to the rough but not too big cut. It only rarely needs to be re-fired, which does not affect the aroma. What remains is light, fine ash and almost no condensate, making cleaning easy.
Redolency:
The London Blend No 1000 also shows the campfire associations typical of English blends in the room fragrance, so that one should not be surprised if not every society agrees with it.
Conclusion:
The London Blend No 1000 presents itself as a typical English blend, which nevertheless knows how to set its own accents. Background sweetness can be found as well as fine acidity and smoky notes. Earth, wood, and grass add interest to the full-bodied smoke. Strong flavors that also match the strength. Uncomplicated in the preparation as well as when smoking, it offers relaxed enjoyment. Above all, lovers of stronger English blends will appreciate this tobacco after a meal, with coffee or - depending on your habit - all day long.
