Manufacturer Description:
Gentle lemon yellow and intense bronze Virginia tobaccos make this Mixture. Underlaid with a spicy flavor.
Characterisation:
In the round tin, the Heritage Paddington is a Mixture of medium and dark brown, rather broadly cut tobacco fibers of different lengths, in between Ready Rubbed pieces are mixed. The fragrance that rises from the open tin is appetizingly sweet and fruity, but by no means artificial, rather reminiscent of jam on rye bread. Since the tobacco fibers feel a bit sticky, you should allow the Heritage Paddington to pre-dry for half an hour before plugging.
Plugging:
If you do not dry the Heritage Paddington, it can be sticky on the fingers when plugging, otherwise it can be plugged like other loose Mixtures, despite its irregular ingredients. Started loosely down and brought to a close with gentle pressure, the Heritage Paddington ensures a quiet burning.
Light up:
As the Heritage Paddington rises slightly under the first flame, gently use the tamper to smoothen the surface. The second flame then produces an uniform glow until the end of the filling.
Smoking properties:
The smoke of the Heritage Paddington is not very strong, but for spicy tobacco, with pleasant toasted notes and a hint of nuts. Even a fine tart smokiness is to taste, as it is quite typical of a pure Virginia. The aroma used is not further explained by the manufacturer and it is also rather subtle, so that one perceives it only as a subtle sweetness that rounds off the spicy flavors pleasantly and so gives the finishing touch. The burning is very calm, even and without the in a Virginia tobacco expected hiccups, such as gargling or even tongue-burning. The remaining medium-gray ash, some condensate and some sticky tobacco crumbs then do not do too much cleaning work.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Heritage Paddington is only slightly affected by the aroma, so that it will appear for pure tobacco to non-smoking society. This should be considered before lighting your pipe.
Conclusion:
The slightly irregular cut, medium and dark brown blend of the Heritage Paddington can be relatively easy be plugged and ignited. In the smoke, the tobacco is reminiscent of a pure Virginia with tobacco spice, toasted bread aromas and nutty notes. However, one does not need to fear the typical peculiarities of pure Virginia, such as gargling or tongue-burning - the burning is completely uncomplicated. The unspecified aroma contributes to the whole only a slight sweetness that serves more to round off and the natural tobacco flavors are not overlayed. So the Heritage Paddington seems very uncomplicated and quite suitable for beginners.
