Manufacturer Description:
For its 25 anniversary, the Bentley Pipe Company composed this blend, which is unequalled. Finest Virginia grades with a juicy Black Cavendish and delicate berry aromas for a perfect smoking pleasure with a very pleasant room note.
Characterisation:
The Twenty Five of Bentley, as it should be for an anniversary blend, is packed in a pretty wooden box and foil. The cellophane bag is sealed with a sticker, but not welded. Nevertheless, the tobacco is well conditioned. Upon opening the bag, a sweet and fruity fragrance is remarkable, reminiscent of vanilla and berries. The Twenty Five is a something wild mix of reddish brown and black tobacco fibers which are cut short and wide.
Plugging:
The Twenty Five could be plugged relatively well despite its short and wide tobacco fibers. You can let the tobacco trickle into the bowl in layers and press them moderately or stuff portions turned into loose balls into the bowl and press gently.
Light up:
To light up the Twenty Five you need some patience, although the tobacco barely tends to straighten up. After 2 or 3 attempts, the tobacco glows rather slowly and evenly.
Smoking properties:
After lighting up a sweet and fruity taste unfolds. A subtle, tangy-fresh note could come from Virginia, otherwise the tobaccos are hardly to taste. As most flavored tobacco blends attention must be paid to the temperature of the Twenty-Five, so the flavors can develop properly and it will not bite on the tongue. The light tobacco glows down rather slow and docile with some condensate development. The remaining ash is medium to dark gray.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Twenty Five is sweet with a caramel-like odor. The fruit flavor is not noticeable, yet rather a slightly bitter scent of tobacco. The room note is very pleasant and the tobacco therefore socially acceptable.
