Manufacturer Description:
The Kratermischung No. 1 is a strong, spicy Virginia / Burley Flake with some Black Cavendish. The No. 1 comes up with unusual spicy and roasted aromas. A wonderful tobacco for the later hours of the day.
Characterisation:
The Flakes are stacked in the round tin like a packet wrapped in thick paper. These are wide cut (6.5x4cm) and from dark to black-brown color with medium brown veins and yellow inclusions. The scent that rises from the tin of Kratermischung No. 1 is appetizing and reminiscent of dark bread and chocolate, although the manufacturer does not use any flavor. If one takes one of the Flakes, one realizes that the tobacco is elastic, but crumbly and appears to be slightly moist, which is why Kratermischung No. 1 should be allowed to dry for an hour before smoking.
Plugging:
Flakes, such as the Kratermischung No. 1 can be brought bend and folded into the pipe or plugged as a Ready Rubbed mixture rubbed as fine als you like it. However, for pressed tobaccos, it is always important not to fill the pipe too much or tightly, as the tobacco fibers should be given room to expand. If you give loose tobacco crumbs on the filling so you facilitate the following kindling.
Light up:
The Kratermischung No. 1 takes the fire well. After the first flame you smooth the surface with the tamper and give again evenly fire and get quite uncomplicated a constant ember.
Smoking properties:
The Kratermischung No. 1 is intense, but is more of medium strength. The impression of fullness is achieved, above all, by the bitter-spicy basic note of the tobaccos, which ensure smokiness and only produce softer toasted bread notes in the background. For a change in the pleasantly relaxed smoke, ensures an unusual and more typical for cigar tobaccos such as Brasil or Havana slightly alkaline acidity with grassy hints. Only a few unburned tobacco crumbs remain, medium-gray ash and almost no condensate make cleaning as easy as possible.
Redolency:
Since the smell in the room of the Kratermischung No. 1 is for tobacco, it should only be smoked in a very tolerant non-smoking society.
Conclusion:
Not only the manufacturer's description, but also the predominantly dark Flakes make expect a spicy tobacco. And so it is, but the Kratermischung No. 1 does not have excessive nicotine content. The aromas are still intense and characterized by a tart spice, which is joined by smokiness, delicate roasting, as well as an interesting grassy acidity and thus is rounding off the picture. As a strong tobacco, the Kratermischung No. 1 is suitable for lovers of this direction and especially in relaxed evenings or after a rich meal.
