Manufacturer Description:
Shamrock - the Irish cloverleaf. Velvety Black Cavendish, mature Ready Rubbed Virginia and Golden Virginias Ribbons. Irish whiskey and a spoonful of honey provide a gentle, sweet flavor and a fragrant, warm note.
Characterisation:
If you open the tin of the Shamrock and unfold the paper rosette, the scent immediately hits your nose: fruity-sweet, with the expected alcoholic component and minty freshness. Under the cover sheet the cross-section is unusual, but very balanced, because predominantly loosened cube squares mix evenly with broad and narrow fibers, which are cut short overall. Coloring is also consistent, as equal proportions of golden, medium, and dark brown fibers can be found. A residual moisture is still noticeable, but the tobacco is ready to be plugged immediately.
Plugging:
The short cut of the Shamrock invites you to simply let the tobacco trickle into the pipe and gently press it in between until you reach the top. If you do this, you won't go wrong!
Light up:
The broad, short and not too wet fibers of the Shamrock accept the flame well and only need to be gently smoothed out with the tamper before another flame creates the final embers.
Smoking properties:
Compared to the cold scent, the aroma is a bit more subtle. The sweetness of the Shamrock can be tasted more clearly at the beginning and recedes more and more as the smoke progresses, creating a relaxed impression. In the background, malt flavor with buttery creaminess can be perceived, while the basic tobaccos in particular can show off their spiciness. These are fruity, naturally sweet Virginias that harmonize well with the aroma. Since you only have to pay little attention to your smoking behavior - the Shamrock is very uncomplicated for an aromatic - you can make yourself comfortable with the tobacco, because it smokes evenly and cool. In the end, only some medium gray ash, some unburned crumbs and a little condensate are left to remove.
Redolency:
Despite its aromatization, the smoke of the Shamrock surprises with a rather natural spice in the room. It's not particularly unpleasant, but doesn't have much of the cold scent, so you should be considerate of your surroundings.
Conclusion:
Cut from flaky short tobaccos in different shades of brown, the shamrock is as easy to prepare as it is to smoke. The creamy-malty aroma remains in the background after the first quarter and then underscores the natural sweetness and spiciness of the basic tobaccos. As a result, the Shamrock is also suitable for those who prefer natural blends or are looking for a tobacco that is not quite as strongly flavored. Neither the aroma nor the strength is overwhelming during the relaxed smoke, making the Shamrock suitable for many occasions.
