Characterisation:
The Original Warehouseblend Louisiana Broken is a well grated Ready Rubbed Flake of predominantly dark brown color with lighter proportions. The scent is very typical of a Virginia-Perique tobacco and reminds of fresh hay and raisins. As the Ready Rubbed pieces are somewhat moist, you should pre-dry the Original Warehouseblend Louisiana Broken before the smoking for half an hour.
Plugging:
The Original Warehouseblend Louisiana Broken should be carefully packed like any Ready Rubbed, as the pressed tobacco tends to expand under the flame heat. Therefore, you should pay attention not to plug the pipe too full or too tight, which can be done with a little practice. Some loose tobacco crumbs on top of the filling quickly pick up the flame.
Light up:
Due the Original Warehouseblend Louisiana Broken is somewhat moist, it may require some flames and gentle pressing with the tamper until the tobacco glows uniformly.
Smoking properties:
After the careful preparations, you are rewarded with soft smoke. However, one should not forget the contained Kentucky and to puff firmly on the pipe, since the smoke otherwise leaves on the tongue a peppery tingling. The flavors are so typical of a Virginia-Perique mixture as the cold-smell and plays between a distinct roast note with the mild acidity of fresh rye bread and the sweetness of dried fruits such as raisins, apricots and plums. In the meantime, the embers should be gently pressed against the tobacco with the tamper, in order to support the burning. If the Original Warehouseblend Louisiana Broken is burnt down, only surprisingly fine and bright ash and hardly condensate remains to clean.
Redolency:
The room note of the Original Warehouseblend Louisiana Broken is clearly tobacco, as can be expected from a Perique- and Kentucky-containing tobacco and should therefore not necessarily be enjoyed in non-smoking society.
Conclusion:
The Original Warehouseblend Louisiana Broken is a dark, Ready Rubbed, which meets all the expectations of a Virginia-Perique in both the cold-smell and the taste. Those who master the somewhat more demanding preparation will get a straightforward soft smoke, with roasted bread notes and fine acidity, rounded off by dry-fruits sweetness and light Kentucky-pepper, which gives the whole thing the speciality. Experienced smokers and inquisitive persons, who are not afraid of some effort, get a typical Virginia-Perique Mixture with the Original Warehouseblend Louisiana Broken, which can be smoked relatively uncomplicated.
