Manufacturer Description:
The My Mixture 221B Baker St. was introduced in the late 1960s. It is a traditional English blend with pronounced roast aromatics and lots of power. Various virginias were combined with dark-fired and sun-ripened tobaccos. This blend has it! Nothing for beginners!
Characterisation:
The My Mixture 221B Baker St. seems to stick in the tin and the impression is not deceiving, because the tobacco is actually somewhat moist and in fresh condition should at least be dissolved and pre-dried for an hour before filling it into the pipe. The tobacco is a rather long cut Loose Cut of medium to dark brown color, with lighter portions. The fragrance from the freshly opened tin is sweet and fruity and reminds with its fragrances of anise and cloves to a spice cake with dry fruits.
Plugging:
The My Mixture 221B Baker St. should be plugged loosely in the lower part of the pipe and tighter to the top. This should be done however with feeling, since the tobacco otherwise makes problems in the later smoking.
Light up:
To dry the My Mixture 221B Baker St. makes the lighting easier. And so it burns after one or two flames without further difficulties.
Smoking properties:
The My Mixture 221B Baker St. keeps what the manufacturer promises. In the first puffing it is already clear that the tobacco belongs to the stronger direction and this is due not only to the nicotine content but also to the strong aromas. The smoke is lush and tart-spicy with distinct toasted notes. In addition, a slight bitterness resonates with a finer aroma, which reminds with its flowery almost soapy taste of Thai basil. This combination of intense and delicate flavors makes the My Mixture 221B Baker St. an unusual smoke. If you occasionally plug, the tobacco does not create any difficulties and only a little light ash and hardly condensation remain.
Redolency:
Like the taste of the tobacco, the room note of the My Mixture 221B Baker St. is also genuine tobacco and tart, which is why it is not necessarily suitable for non-smoking society. Its powerful aromas are also not lost when smoking in the fresh air.
Conclusion:
The My Mixture 221B Baker St. is a medium to dark brown Loose Cut, which smells like spice cake, but does not shows any sweetness when smoking. The bitter aromas and the rather high nicotine content should be enjoyed by experienced smokers. This awaits a combination of spicy roasted aromas with delicate bitternotes and the floweriness, which are typical for Irish mixtures. So the manufacturer's promise will not disappoint the smoker. Above all, the My Mixture 221B Baker St. is recommended for walks, after a substantial meal and as conclusion of the day.
