Manufacturer Description:
You can expect a full-bodied, medium-strong smoking pleasure with a balanced sweetness and subtle notes of dried fruit with a slow burning.
Characterisation:
The Heritage Black Flake lies wrapped in paper as a small pack in the round tin. In the paper are cleanly arranged two stacks of Flakes. These are marbled evenly medium and light brown and have plenty of pale yellow and dark inclusions. The rising scent is appetizing fruity-sweet and reminiscent of plums and dark chocolate. Since the Heritage Black Flake contains a certain residual moisture and is therefore elastic, the individual Flakes can easily be removed individually, but should therefore be pre-dried shortly before being plugged.
Plugging:
As is so often the case with Flakes, the Heritage Black Flake is also great for letting the imagination run wild. With a pipe that is not too small, the Flake can be plugged well bend and folded. Or you can grind it between the fingers to a Ready Rubbed-mixture in the personally desired fineness. No matter how you plug the Heritage Black Flake, some loose tobacco crumbs to complete the filling make it easy to create a steady glow.
Light up:
Surprisingly for a Flake, the Heritage Black Flake almost a single flame is sufficient for a constant glow. To be on the safe side, you should try the tamper for a moment to smoothen the surface, and then give fire again.
Smoking properties:
Contrary to the manufacturer's description, the Heritage Black Flake is initially smoky and intensely spicy, sometimes peppery. However, the equally clear natural sweetness provides a harmonious balance that rounds off the "edges" of the Heritage Black Flake and provides an interesting flavor interplay that sometimes makes one think of exotic spices, such as cloves and cardamom. And all without flavorings! Soft plugging occasionally leads the Heritage Black Flake to a burning down without any problems and leaves only a little gray ash and almost no condensate in the pipe.
Redolency:
The redolence of the Heritage Black Flake is for tobacco, but slightly sweet, so that tolerant society might not necessarily bother it.
Conclusion:
Already lying in the tin as a Flake, the Heritage Black Flake brings joy. The clean cut and the uniform marbling together with the chocolate-like dried fruit scent immediately make you want to puff it delightfully. If you have some experience in dealing with flakes, you will not have any problems at all. The Heritage Black Flake makes it very easy to light and smoke it down, but you only have to use the tamper from time to time. The natural tobacco flavors are composed so harmoniously that both peppery-spicy smoke, as well as an intense natural sweetness come significantly to the course and provides a tasteful overall picture that even lovers of flavored Mixtures will hardly miss an aroma.
